What kind of flowers are these

Who can identify these flowers? Found on them on the ground next to my Taco day after Valentine’s Day when leaving work. The petals seem kind of small to be roses.

 

I think they're partially-bloomed Carnations.

 

Do you think they mean anything.

 

I'm going to guess - some poor dude bought his girl/wife a bouquet of Carnations for VD instead of roses, and she got the butthurt, tossed them on the ground, and he ended up having a lonely night.

 

Someone put them on the roof when getting in their car, then forgot and drove off

 

I actually had a girl text me the same day I found them.

 

Did you steal her heart or steal her flowers?

 

I didn’t want make assumptions that it was her so I didn’t ask. I said happy VD the day before. She is Kind of young and has a BF. I gave her a red velvet cake the next day.

 

In Victorian flower language, red carnations mean love and/or fascination.

Somebody is fascinated by your truck. In the lip bitey way.

Love at first sight

 

Be thankful it wasn't an abandoned puppy yelping in fear with helium Valentines balloons tied to the collar, and you had to be the one to take it to the shelter. Sad story but true, some guys are just plain girl-stupid. :-\

 

So you found a puppy and took it in.

 

Long story, but we couldn't, not just because we didn't want to. Our shelter here is really good though, gives them shots and puts them in the display area for those adopting. Kittens and puppies always go first. They don't last there very long, this guy was a beagle and I'm sure someone took him very quickly.
