there is a small difference (unless something has changed)
Sr= same grille as sr5 but with a black bezel
Sr5= Same grille as sr but with a chrome bezel

Those are the very decals I have. I just haven't decided how (or if) I want to apply them.

Instead of painting the chrome I’d recommend just replacing it with the SR trim piece ... it comes in black and is likely more durable than painted chrome.

    SR/SR5 grille > Pro grille

Id leave it. Maybe dlack out the surround as mentioned.

It's the best looking grille on any of the Tacomas.

Leave that grill and surround in place. It's the best looking 3rd gen grill already.

Adding the badge that you show in the pic is reversible if you ever change your mind.

I like that grill. Keep it. The pro grill is so over done it is actually boring.

I like my SR5 grill so I'm keeping it. Atleast it makes me standout. All I see are TRD's in my area so it's kinda nice to be different.

I would echo what some others have mentioned about keeping the SR grille, maybe either plasti-dipping the outer trim, or swapping for the OEM trim that is black. I have a Pro grille on my '19 OR. I think the Pro Grilles are starting to be overdone, but IMO they're still better-looking than the cheese grater older 3rd Gen stock grille. When I bought my truck, I hadn't even heard of plastidip yet, or if I did, I don't really think I understood the concept. If I had it to do over again, I would just plastidip the cheese grater, or trade for an SR grille. I think those might be the best looking stock option out there right now. Very clean and minimal.

I would rather see somebody put a pro grille on a non pro truck then rob raptor lights form another truck manufacturer. I mean just put Ford emblems on it too.

So many silly people here lol, but I guess OP opened himself up to yall. Do what you want OP, SR5 is 99% the same as any other 3rd gen tacoma so you are justified to put anything you want on it without feeling "desperate". TRD? Let's see yalls 1/4 mile time lol. I don't see much racing capability but then again what do I know, I'm the kind of dummy that buys an SR5, and 2wd at that. I'm not worthy.

Fucking kids don't understand that at one time that was the standard grill on "the Toyota pickup truck". And the vast majority of people that bolted one on didn't do it in an attempt to fool anyone into thinking had a Pro, they bolted on because the other OEM versions look ghey AF and the aftermarket versions look like they were added.

The Pro grill looks like it belongs on the vehicle, and this is across the board Tacoma, Tundra, 4 Runner, because it was right 30 years ago and still is.

All jokes aside, I will say that if the grille said "TRD Pro" on it I wouldn't own it, mainly because I think all the badges and branding are kind of tacky. I do like the simple "Toyota" on the grille because it reminds me of land cruisers which I absolutely love.

It's not that the pro grille is all that great, it's that all the other ones are awful. But maybe that's me.

If you’re here in SoCal, I would gladly take that off your hands for the right price . For me, that is the best looking grille in a tacoma.

I guess I didn't make it very clear that I do not want to replace my grille. I just want to dress it up a little and was chewing on some options. I was also wondering if my grille was somewhat of an anomaly, as I just don't see many of them out there. Searching for "SR5 Tacoma stock grille" only turns up a handful of grilles like mine, so I wondered if I truly had an SR5 stock grille or something else.

Whatever kind of grille I have, I'm keeping it. I agree with all of you saying that the TRD pro grille is overdone and also doesn't belong on my 4 banger SR5.

The chrome frame is definitely getting dipped. Still not sure if or how I'll add the decals or something else.
Alas, no, I'm not (but as I stated above I'm not planning to get a different grille). I have family in Paso Robles, and we got to go there a couple of summers ago. I really liked that area. It was hard to come back to Houston.
