    1. I said it gave me about 2 inches with a V6 xtra cab and a stock bumper, not heavy bumper.

    2. That height is when first installed. Over time the coils will start to sag a bit, so there is some variability involved.

    3. With spacers, the are likely providing the actual height of the spacer piece, which is far inboard and near the pivot point of the control arms. Conceptually, half an inch added near the pivot point can translate to an inch or more out at the other end of the controal arms (ball joint), where the actual result of the lift is apparent (I don't know the actual numbers, just providing an example). It is a geometry angle arc thing. Think of a door; push it 1 inch near the hinge, and the outer edge of the door will move several inches.

So to get 2.5" with the 881s (with my 2.7) i should go with the 1/2"-5/8" spacer wheelers and toytec offer with their kits? I have a 2.5" spacer lift now that clears the 285/75/16s, I just dont want to buy stuff only to discover clearance issues.

I highly recommend a conversation with Dan at Wheelers. He is very knowledgeable about the offerings. Based on some of the things he told me about my setup, my guess is he would recommend the 8 leaf pack from Alcan for your situation.

That is a fairly accurate account of how lift spacers effect ride height. If the spacer itself is 5/8th of an inch thick, it will end up lifting the truck at least an inch.

So it gets down to what the advertisement is about. Is a 5/8th of an inch lift spacer the actual size or the advertised lift result? If it is the result, then it might or might not end up giving 5/8th of an inch on your truck when all the other factors are considered.

The 5 leaf in the rear will be WAY lower than the 882s in the front. You will need the 8 leaf with the 882s.

Please post pics when you get them installed. I would also be interested to know what your ride height is after installing the new springs.

OK, I will but according to what I have been told so far I have already messed up ordering the 5 leaf pack, Should've got the 8 leaf. O Well, We'll worry about that later I guess. Of course I only specified 882 springs when ordering so maybe wheelers will just send the right leaf pack along with the coils. Anyone know ?

Personally, I think the 882's are going to be super stiff.
I have the 881's and an AP tube bumper and it is stiff as hell. I can stand my fat ass 200lb body on the winch plate and the front BARELY drops .05 inch.
Even adding a 65 lb winch I think it's still going to be stiff. Just my .02

    fyi,
there is no difference in spring rate from the 881 to the 882 coils. the difference is only length. so changing coils will not stiffen the ride. it will actually soften the ride slightly as each loop of the coil will have to deform less to absorb the same size bump.

    just sayin

All my parts are here. I'll likely be installing everything tomorrow (Oct 8th). I took a pre measurement and with about 1/3 a tank of gas and about 34-35 PSI in the BFG AT's (265/75R16) this is what I got. This is with Bilstein 5100's on all four corners, OME 880 coils up front and stock leaf springs in the rear. Measurements were taken across the center line of the tire up to the fender.

    Driver Front: 36 5/8"
    Passenger Front: 37 1/16"
    Driver Rear: 36 3/4"
    Passenger Rear: 37"

Yeah dude, you have to do the 882s. That's what I got about 2 months ago, I have the ARB bumper without a winch and I run 33s. It rides grweat, but the springs have settled since then and I have really got to start thinking about getting those little spacers the lift comes with on, because there is some defenate rubbing if the wheel travels up almost at all. Anybody know exactly how they go on? I'm sure it's easy, I just haven't really looked at them yet and there's not much info online.

If I may ask, why are you replacing the 5100s in front? Were there issues becasue of the extra weight of the ARB/winch?

I had 5100's with OME 880's. When I picked up the leaf's rear shocks and shackles from ARB they said and take it for what its worth but the 5100 spring clip isn't strong enough for the 882's.

With the bullbar, winch and 880's up front the thing rode like an old Cadillac.

Got everything on today except the extended brake line and diff drop... Started at 1100 and finished at 10pm. FYI go to Toyota and buy 2 bolts for the leaf springs. The forward bolts on my leafs were rusted to the steel collar inside the bushing. No amount of hammering, WD40 or heat could get them loose. I busted an 8" c clamp, a few knuckles and said eff it where's the sawzall. Luckily a fellow NWtoy'er is a Toyota Technician and had the bolts. An hours trip to get them and back and the leafs went right in.

Save yourself the headache and if you live anywhere wet/salty get the bolts!!

I found some more info on the ome springs. I'm thinking of replacing my suspension preload lift with better springs instead, that's why I'm still digging around. http://www.tacomaterritory.com/forum/showthread.php?t=163562

I've got to chew on the geometry of it for a bit. Now that I've got some actual data to play with.

Yeah, I guess I was pretty lucky when it came to replacing the rear leafs. No probs with the front eye bolt and rubber bushing like some have had.

Because I knew that I wanted full plate winch bumper, I went a totally different direction. I have the SAWs primarily for their adjustability. The ones I got have the newer Eibach 650# coils. We'll see how well these springs hold up. They have been a bit stiff up til now but just tonight I installed a new Relentless Fab bumper with an XRC8 in it.

It definately changed how it rides. Wouldn't describe it as being like a caddy but so far I'm liking it a lot.

Ok, after giving myself a headache figuring this all out.

Assuming 150lbs is correct you should get 2.47" of lift over stock out of the 882 coils. That should also give you a spring ratio of 2.23. That's going to be a little rougher then the 881 coils with no heavy bumper, but not that much. Those come out with a ratio of 2.21 You'll probably get a little bit less then that in actual lift, and have a slightly better ride too. I don't know the trucks weight distribution so I can't factor it in.

If you want to know how I figured this out read this.
