hi, I’m going to put king suspension on my 2019 Tacoma Off Road and curious to get everyone’s thoughts on the ideal lift and tire size to go along with that.

I’m looking to just do some moderate off roading, nothing too serious. I also would still like to be able to keep my spare wheel under the truck.

    Is a 2” lift with 275 BFG Ko2s doable?

    Where are you wheeling?
    Lots of rocks?

More important for moderate wheeling are sliders and skid plates. Moderate wheeling in my experience means getting high centered and bringing your truck down on its sliders quite frequently. I wheeled difficult trails on 32s and a 3 inch lift for a long time with armor. I upgraded to 33s and believe it or not that extra 1/2 inch of clearance matters (its a game of inches). If you get Kings they will be adjustable, so choose your height (and learn the ramifications of those heights for your suspension system).

Thanks, I’m definitely getting skid plates over everything except for the fuel tank and sliders.

I live in Southern California so I’ll be mainly going off roading around Joshua Tree and the sierras up by mammoth lakes.

Can I fit 33’s under the truck?

I am not a 3rd gen guy, so I am guessing they will chime in. On a 2nd gen, you can fit them, but often need to do a cab mount chop. Also very important is your wheel backspacing - so you don't hit your UCA. A lot of guys use spacers to get the clearance from the UCAs. I went with 255s and a 4.75 inch backspace wheel and I had to do zero modifications.

Keeping your lift as low as possible is a good idea for a number of reasons. If you go above 2" you'll need new UCAs to get a proper alignment. Plus, you will stress the CVs less, etc, etc. With that being said, 3" is nice, cause it gets your frame up off the rocks. I don't regret my 3" lift. Took more work, but I like the frame clearance.

Wheeling in Southern California is a mix of everything. You will be amazed how far you can go with your current plan. I do recommend you obsess for awhile and learn everything you can about lifts before you buy.

Welcome to TW. The suspension is the lift. You will need a new leaf pack or blocks for the rear to be level or keep factory rake. For sliders... you are local to @Shmellmopwho get a set of his.

Yes, but loose the rock dragger up front and the low pro tires are a no go.

If you want to be off road. Mall crawling works fine with this setup.

Could we please have a picture of this truck with the rear suspension at full flex?

I must be doing it wrong. I've done some moderate rock crawling in my stock Tacoma.

Yes 2” with 275s is doable and depending on wheel offset, only minor plastic trimming no CMC. 285s more than likely CMC. I had 275s with Ray 10s (4.3” bs and -10mm offset) with slightly under 2.5” and had to trim about 1-2” of plastic on the bottom. Now running 285s on the same wheels with 2” of lift and need a CMC and remolding of plastic.
