I completely understand what you are getting at, but I never had any problems out of my 2010 Tacoma with a 3/1 spacer lift... If I were to spend $1500 - $2000 on a lift, I would have to wait a while to save up and do it...

Perhaps I'm wrong (I'm sure you'll let me know if I am, LOL) but what is the harm in putting in a spacer lift, then upgrading it if/when the components fail or a year or 2 down the road after I can afford it?

I'm happy with the factory ride, and I was happy with the performance and ride of my 2010 with spacers... I'm just saying, if I can get this lift for practically nothing, is it worthwhile to go ahead and put it on, then in the future I can upgrade??? Or will this cause harm to some components (needle bearings?) that would otherwise not need to be replaced?

Is that an issue related only to 3rd gens? Or do 2nd gens have the same needle bearing issue?

Sounds like a hard way to make $20 to me.

The one and only time I will admit to agreeing with Smitty, don't be a cheapskate on a brand new truck. At least spend 500-600 on the Bilstein 5100/OME 8XX/AAL lift if you don't want full coilover replacement cost.

Read the links in my Sig on ECGS, its been discussed many many times and it will inform you on the issue. It affects all generations as well as other models of Toyotas. Good luck!

What's the difference between preloading a coil with a spacer or preparing a coil with a 5100?
