Didn't really want that high of a lift. Just 2" to 3" max. What did that cost you? How long did the install take?

6" Lift, 22x12 Xtreme Force XF8 wheels, 33x12.50 Nitto Trail Grapplers...
Spindles and front brake lines - $520
    Blocks - $30
Rear extended brake lines - $60
    Front adjustable Bilsteins - $199
Rear extended Bilsteins for 3-4" lift - $199
    1.25" Spidertraxx wheel spacers - $99
    Total - $1107ish

The install took me roughly 9 hours total. After I had one spindle installed the rest of the process was a breeze... except for the rear brake lines. Getting them threaded was not easy at all!

I have the exact same truck as OP, almost. I am also looking for the same type of setup adding 33x12.5 tires. Keep us updated with what you end up with ComaTSS.

ok. there are tons of ways to do this. I will try and explain. someone correct me if im mistaken

a taller spindle will maintain factory ride at a taller height. factory suspension travel-limiting and geometry are maintained. ideal for pre-runners. you effectively lower the wheel mounting location in relation to all suspension components. one possible downside may be the added forces that could be translated to suspension components. you've put on a longer wrench so to speak in relation to upper and lower ball-joints. I would bet that you would have to hit something really effing hard to have this be a problem.

a top-plate spacer lowers your spring/shock assembly (strut) in relation to its mounting point, raising the truck up. this renders the factory bump-stop (limits suspension up-travel) useless. your shock is your new limiting means and will be destroyed as it was not designed to do that. factory ride is maintained. people run these lifts around town.

a coil spacer/ 5100 lift compresses the spring on the strut assembly. say for reference the Tacoma comes factory with 500lbs/in springs. it takes 500 lbs to compress them one inch, another 500 for another inch, and so on. so as the spring is compressed, it's effective spring rate is raised. say a factory truck is so designed that its own weight, exerted on its own springs, causes them to sag to a point halfway through its designed suspension travel limits. if we compress the spring on the strut assembly, prior to installing it on the truck, you effectively increase the spring rate, and the truck rides higher. a stiffer ride may be encountered because the coil is being compressed more than it was originally when you hit bumps.

now you could buy taller coils. the only ones I've seen come with a tad higher spring rate than stock, but it is not very noticeable. for reference, a taller coil, with the same spring rate as factory, sags to the same lbs/in rating that the weight of the truck causes it to ride at. but since it is a taller coil, you have achieved that equality at a higher than stock height.

top-plate spacers, coil spacers, and taller coils all alter the geometry that the truck was designed for under normal driving conditions. the general consensus is that 2" would be the max you would want to go to get factory alignment again. if you go higher, new upper control arms are needed that are designed to align at your new height.

I bought taller coils, 5100 shocks to dampen them, and a progressive 3-leaf aal (also with 5100s) for my lift, and am very pleased. ome 884 coils if your wondering. if my truck was a prerunner, I would have bought a taller spindle

Alright so now I am looking to either get a spindle lift or the 5100's with taller coils like you did. Are these prices about right? And please add in stuff other stuff that's going to have to be paid for.. such as extended brake lines and stuff. Please recommend better brands if needed.

Total Chaos 3.5" Lift Spindle (brand recommended in another thread)
    $1349

    Bilstein 5100 Adjustable shocks
    $500ish
    Plus OME 884 Coils
    $160
    Equals $660

I guess this would be easier if you're going the bilstein/coils route. 3" lift kit with Bilstein 5100 Height Adj. Coilovers
    $900

looks like a cool, strait-forward lift, taller coils+preload, but I think you'll need upper control arms to align it.

2" is about as high as you can go with factory alignment specs.

3" lift EIBACH coils w/ 5100's front, OME/ Dakar leaf springs w/ toytec adjustable shackles at 1.5" and 5125's out back. 33x10.5x15 KM2's Relentless DIY steel bumper.
If the OP were to go the 5100's route on all 4 corners, should he get the extended 5100's for the rear or the 5125's for the rear. I ask this cuz I'm in the same boat?

And that's with new OME/ Dakar 2.25" spring pack in the rear ASWELL.
