I think a 2" lift will be just the subtle touch it needs to be perfect. I gotta do something with the rear suspension anyways, once I put the roof tent on and some more tools it squats a little.

Thank you though, I love this thing

scrap the UCAs and get a new leaf pack instead of the aal. I’m running a stage 2 icon rxt leaf pack after ditching the aal myself. Have 5100s on the rear and 6112s up front. It’s a really nice upgrade and ride for the total cost.

You don't think I need UCAs? Again I'm still kinda teaching myself about lifts as I go here. Obviously I'd rather not drop the extra money on UCAs if I don't need to but from what I've been reading if I want to do a bit larger tires in the future I should spring for the UCAs. I do agree with you about the leaf pack though

you can go up a tire size with stock UCAs. I’m running skinnies… search for skinnies or pizza cutters to learn more about this tire size (255 80 17… you can look up that size for 16” wheels as well). Fitting 285s is another story as the extra width makes them more challenging. Obviously money solves a lot, so if you want 285s down the road and don’t mind the extra cost that comes with them, then UCAs are a good idea. It’s all about how much you want to spend. Don’t forget the mpg hit bigger/heavier tires cause.

I actually love the look of the skinnies now that you mention it. You didn't have to do UCAs with yours?

UCA's are necessary with a lift of 2"+ it will help correct alignment numbers regardless of tire size. Now there are adjustable UCA's that can help fit larger tires by moving the hub forward in the wheel well via caster adjustment.

As you lift the hub actually swings back towards the rear of the wheel well slightly which can cause rubbing issues even on stock or one up sized tires. Having a shop that understands aligning these trucks post lift is really important not only for tire fitment but overall drivability.

I suggest looking up tinkerers adventure and watching his videos on lifting toyota IFS vehicles he does the best job explaining and visualizing all aspects. He talks more FJ/GX but principals are all one in the same up front on our trucks.

Another item to keep on your list is the front diff clamshell bushing. I ran my stock needle bearing for a year but there was always an intermittent vibration. Ontop of that there's the rear pinion angle that needs to be accounted for. This can be do e with carrier drop spacers or angled spacers that sit under the leaf pack.

The set up I'm running for reference.
    Elka 2.0 front/rear 2.5" front 2" rear
    Dirt king uca
    Ome med leaf pack
    Ome carrier spacers
    Ecgs clamshell bushing

For the amount of weight your talking about an add a leaf will not cut it. Your looking at a heavy leaf pack from ome if you stick with that brand. I will be swapping my med pack out for so.thing with more capacity it sags out heavily on camping trips or towing.

That’s essentially what I did. Vastly improved handling over stock…and I went with LT255/75R17 KO2’s. I’ve got a set of JBA’s, but didn’t need to install them. Alignment shop was able to get me back to factory specs, and the truck drives great.

    agreed!
Since I had/have a spacer lift on the front, I went with the cry once principle on the rear build, and will save up and do the same for the front down the road.

Looks good. What OME coils did you get and how much lift did it add?

This. The only thing I would have done differently for someone in your situation is go with a 5125 out back instead of a 5100 to be able to capture some more of that droop that the RXT pack allows.

The most popular setup for the Tacoma that we sell here at Hotshot Offroad is the Bilstein 6112/5160 married up to an Icon RXT leaf pack. You get the lift that you want (up to 2" up front), don't have to run a different UCA unless you have a specific reason to, and have the load carrying capacity/comfort of a fresh progressive leaf pack.

Agreed on the rear 5125s. In fact I picked up my 6112s from hotshot but decided to leave the 5100s on the rear since I already had 5100s all around installed. I may eventually swap those too.

Ben, you'll only need to replace the UCA's if your gong to a wider tire, like a 285+. A 2" lift alone won't require to change them out.

The Bilstein 5100's are a fine choice for weekend warrioring.... Bilstein even recommends you keep the stock coils, unless your adding more weight to the font end. (winch, etc...)

    Good luck

What sites do you all use to get your kits from?
Thank you! I'm probably gonna be going to a skinnier tire honestly so I should be alright
