Hi Everyone, I recently just picked up a 2004 Tacoma Double Cab 4x4 with the TRD package with 151k miles. I'll probably be putting about 5-7k miles a year on the truck as its my second vehicle (Primary is a 2020 Toyota Supra :D ) and dont plan on doing any major offroading (Located in Northern VA), probably on-road for 95% of the time.

Long story short I wand to lift it and throw on some 285/70/17 BFG KO2 (33s) that i got a great deal on from a buddy of mine. I originally wanted to go with the Toyota 17x7.5 (Part# 75154MB) wheels but realized they may not be wide enough for a 285 and the offsets would require a spacer. So now Ive decided on a 17x8.5 pro comp 34 series rockwell with a 0 offset.

I was wondering what lift kit you all recommend that will allow me to run the 33s, dont want to break the bank as its not my daily and i wont be off roading. Would the rough Country 2.5 inch kit work, or is it terrible quality? any other recommendations are greatly appreciated.

has anyone used the tuff country kit:https://www.suspensionconnection.co...MImuGJ55KV5wIVhp6zCh13oQE8EAQYAiABEgJNgPD_BwE

    STOCK! Ready to build.
In your last paragraph i think you mean 33s? Also I am in the same exact boat with getting bfg ko2’s 285/70 at an amazing deal and they are on 17x8.5 -0 method 701s. I have looked into the bilstein set up with new springs, add a leaf in the rear with bilstein a too. From what i see I’d have to do the pinch weld mod or run 1.25” spacers to clear with a little cutting on the front bumper. interested to see what others have to say.

Thanks corrected the last paragraph, so with the oem later model toyota wheels i read that it would need a 1" spacer but i believe with the 0 offset you may not need a spacer?

So I run that size tire.
I have icon coillovers but there not cranked very high. I'm about 1.5" over stock.
I have to massage the inner fender pretty aggressively. But I have control arms that cause it.

I have the Tuff Country 4in lift. It clears 33s fine and would be a viable option if your not planning on doing any offroading as it doesnt give you any extra clearance. The tires in the picture are 31s but it stills shows how much room you have open.

Your tires will still rub, just maybe not it a parking lot. Since most lifts don't actually change the geometry of the control arms, they'll still rub when turning and compressing the suspension. Since this will be a mall crawler, that probably won't matter very much to you.

That said, since this is a new-to-you truck that you will essentially only drive on the road, I'd honestly sell those tires/wheels, and use that money to concentrate on making sure the engine and drive train are in good/reliable working order (ball joints, suspension bushings, vacuum lines, etc...) before throwing cool looking tires at it.

Wheel spacers will decrease the frame rub problems, but increase fender rub problems.

And yes, the RC lift kits are going to be pretty terrible quality, relatively speaking. This should be no surprise since they're the cheapest lifts on the market. For just driving around in parking lots they would at best be adequate, but I'd honestly save your money.

Some bilistine adjustable and a block in the back is pretty cheap.

I just installed a full OME kit from Wheelers off-road. I am very happy with the lift amount and ride quality. Compared to stock this rides so nice and it got rid of all the noise from my suspension with 300k on it. That being said, it's a bit pricey and especially so "just for looks". Here is a link if you wanted to check it out.

Awhhh mother fuc@%#$ !!!! I just typed out a long ass explanation and lost it !! Grrrrr!!!!!!

    Anyways. Short answer yes !
Google sornansteel tacoma front lift. Should get a tone of hits.
There tundra stocks bilistine will get you various lifts.
Wheeler's got me the best price around by a pretty good margin.
Shocks, upper control arms and spindles are all the same. You can use the lower control arms too but the swaybar mount is different. Can not use the lower ball jt or tierods.
Here's what I just did it has a ome coils from a Tacoma.

883's because I will be putting a heavy plate bumper and winch on the front at some point. Not to mention when the motor goes someday I might throw a v8 swap in the mix also. :D

I will be adding all the info to the build thread at some point also.
