Whats up taco world? First time poster here. I got my 2nd gen taco at about 50,000km a few years ago and now we're at 80k present day. I hope I don't get flak for this but since purchasing the only things I've had to do were; fix the A/C, get new tires and perform regular engine oil changes. I'm not the kindest driver on my taco but I figure its a tacoma what am I really going to do to break it haha. Ive only off-roaded a handful of times and nothing to gnarly. The bad boy isn't sounding as healthy as he used to so I thought I'd turn to taco world for tips on what you guys do for regular maintenance and what you would recomend for preventative maintenance for someone who has done little to none of it, better safe than sorry! I appreciate anyones input or tips and my apologies if I selected the wrong subforum for posting!

Transmission fluid drain/fill or line-exchange. If you do a lot of slow speed crawling, then this is a must do because that builds up tranny heat, and heat degrades fluids.

I’d start by looking in the maintenance manual and determining which services are past due and address those.

    And welcome to the forum.

If 4x4 - then change both diffs and xfer case fluids. Have shop do full trans flush/replace or if no heavy use book says at 100k (had mine done then and shifted better) but now with all my towing I do every 50k. Coolant flush and refill and drain/flush at the 2 engine block drains one each side and use the pink Toyota coolant. Of course you must have put in an air filter (every 25k miles or when dirty) and a cabin air filter behind glove box. Check the serpentine belt for wear and check at least the front brake pads and rotors. If the engine is running rough clean the throttle body and possible spark plugs but did mine at 115k and they were still good.
(Add your Tacoma model and year to your profile so then we know type)

It sounds like the issues may be greater than just fluid changes if the OP is stating the truck sounds unhealthy. I'm beginning to question the oil change intervals the truck has been receiving. OP, please describe why the truck doesn't sound right? Any idling or driving issues? Noises?

Exactly. You need to be more specific on your Tacoma not sounding healthy. That would be a good place to start.
