What makes the 2021 Tacoma's "dynamic navigation" different from my 2016 Sport's navigation?

Do we pay after 3 years for what I get free on my 2016? Is it different?

Can't answer your question, i believe it is two years free, then a subscription after that.

But in my opinion since 2020+ has apple/android car play natively, Dynamic Nav is worthless (and expensive), just hook your phone up and you get the benefits of apple or google maps that has much better traffic data, updates, and route navigation. Unless you do lots of off roading or long trips in places without cell service (nav usually has better maps when off traditional roads), google maps is superior to DynNav is most ways... and free for life.

In addition, the DynNav upgrade is like what, $1600? You could get a car mounted or handheld gps like this garmen for $279 for when you are off roading or take it hiking outside of the vehicle. Will work just as well and theres no subscription and you save $1300 to spend on other mods. Or if you spend that $1600 on an enthusiast aftermarket off-road type GPS, it will have way better maps and data than whatever comes with DynNav standard.

Android auto now allows different map apps. So you can use Gaia and download offline, off-road maps.

Are the leather seats and moon-roof that come with the nav package worth it? It's kind of annoying with so few options available, to find a truck I like, then see that they slapped "that" package on it.

Dynamic navigation, yes you pay for that feature after the 3 year trial period BUT the non-dynamic GPS navigation feature will continue to work for free.

I think they are, at least leather/pleather is. Could do with out sun/moon roof, never been open or the sun shade open.

I suppose that depends on where you live. If you're in the southwest like AZ or NV or someplace hot. the leather might not feel too good in the heat and you defintiely won't want to let the sunlight in with the moon roof but its a nice alternative to crackin the window when you're parked in the sun.

I think the leather looks nicer, and it certainly cleans better. The dual climate control would be OK as well. I've opened the roof on my Subaru probably twice over the 5 years I've owned it. The nav was cool when I test drove an AT, but not something I'd go asking for. I can get this purchase done and out of the way if I just accept the expensive package.

The leather seats are definitely a lot more comfier than the cloth seats, also easier to clean, more of a pain when they get ruined tho lol
