Well it stopped raining for a little bit so I went outside with a step ladder, microfiber cloth, and some goo gone to see if I could rub off the black crack that I found on the roof, here are some pictures of it:

This is a closeup of the little black crack on the roof

I tried to rub it off but it wouldnt come off, its less than an inch long. Do you guys think its a rock chip or something thats rusting? or hardened bird poop?

Well... I just sprayed it with the hose for like 5 minutes to see if it would come off and test if it was hardened bird poop or a rock chip... it looks like it was a rock chip :( because it didnt come off (I guess thats why it has like a white outline around it, thats the clearcoat)

*sigh* I guess im going to have to get the body shop to do some light sanding on it to prevent rust and then repaint it.

Could just use a touch up pen to stop it from rusting.

FYI, talk to your children about crawing up on your roof to hang out with friends, and that that type of behavior is unacceptable. Otherwise your roof will go concave. Luckily retracting the sunroof (if you have one) fully and using a piece of lathe to pop it back up from below is a viable way of correcting the issue, along with also applying said lathe to the backside of said children.

Unfortunately, I didn't have that talk with my children in advance, so it was only fair to apply the lathe to the backside of the roof. I blame Leviathan and its CAFE regulations.

Beats the "will tire shine sprayed on my OR fender flare ruin it" thread in the detailing section. I just can't anymore, between that and the largest tire size on stock I see every flipping day.

Looks like bird shit and what bird shit does to paint when left on it for too long. Definitely not looking like a rock chip.

yeah, that looks different than a rock chip. I have a couple on my roof and they don’t look anything like that. I’ll try and get a pic in the morning. Pretty sure I have one about that size.

Try taking a clay bar to it, definitely looks like a rock chip but that one strand going through the clear makes it seem more like a crack. Look up how to use a clay bar on a car, it has been a life saver for me. Gets everything out with a little elbow greese, some luber and is safer for your paint than goo gone

Doesn't look like chemical damage to me as bird poop or acid material dropped would not be in a straight line but more rounded or irregular shaped.
Something struck it. Clean it, apply touch-up paint to avoid rust and call it a day. No one's going to see it unless hovering overhead.
Be very thankful it's not on the hood where you have to stare at it the entire time you are driving.

Here is my rock chip on my roof. I think I got it around the second week I had the truck, so it’s been over two years

Definitely an OEM paint pen touchup job in my book. Clean it and dry it well first, dab on a few coats with a toothpick, and forget it ever happened.
