I wouldn't have believed that a 2" lift would have caused any vibration issues...that sucks. That's pretty much why I have dragged my feet on lifting my 2013 AC OR...don't want to end up chasing vibrations all over my truck. That would drive me nuts.

I regret my leveling kit (harsh ride and purely cosmetic) and Nerf bars (good for steps, but not much protection) on m '09. Not going that route with my '14.

Putting in 5100's @ first knotch, eibachs, 1.5" aal, and e rated 265/75r16 tires made the ride horrible. I took out the springs, left the billies in at stock height. Put the factory tires back on and added a rear sway bar. So much nicer on the street!! Damn truck has a bunch of rattles now though.... It did look great though.

Haha, the PO put a TB spacer on my truck, the whistling doesn't bother me yet, but the key word is yet. I can foresee it getting old.

So far I'm regretting a lot of stuff the PO installed I think lol. All the lift on my truck is from spacers from what I can tell. I need to start getting together the stuff to R&R it all with actual good stuff and stuff that is actually functional aside from allowing larger tires.

mini antenna... I'm getting to it! Sheesh!

    THIS.

I don't regret anything I've done so far to my Tacoma... but I've taken my time, done LOTS of research and been very certain before spending my hard earned cash on mods. We all make mistakes, but rushing into things without doing research is a guaranteed recipe for disaster.

This thread doesn't discourage me in modding my truck ( still stock) it makes me want to more I guess. This thread is a great tool for some one like me. It's a little more real in terms of feed back. When some one has a mod thread it's usually positive because of the excitement but this is better becuAse it give time for things to settle. I'm just trying to decide if this is the truck I want for the next 10 plus years or if I want a full size

Maybe a fullsize truck is a better choice for your needs. Or need to find friends that are smaller in stature lol.

My list of re-do's as of yet:

OEM bed extender for my 2014- with the corners cut off it was worthless. Just replaced it with an Amp Research HD MAX in black which is like the old style U-shaped one in my '05.

Did audio upgrade (speakers, loc, amp) while keeping the stock head unit. Initially bought an Audio Control LCQ-1 for the LOC and it put a ton of noise in the system. Replaced it with an Audison Bit Ten and the system is perfect.

Sound deadening- Stripped the interior and covered the whole interior of the truck with Hushmat vibration dampener and layer of closed cell foam. It helped a lot but I ended up going back over with MLV. Should have used a lot less vibration dampener and did the MLV in the first place.

Line Output Controller-- takes the amplified line output from a head unit wires and produces a clean pre-amp signal (unless its made by Audio Control) through RCA outputs to feed an amplifier

MLV-- Mass Loaded Vinyl, its used for blocking sound and is different from Dynomat type products which are primarily vibration dampeners.

Glad I read this. I'm about to get some adj coilovers and was really looking at the Toytecs Adj for my 5100s (for saving $$$). Now I think i'll spend a little more and get the Icon/king Resis. Probably dont really need them, but It'll save me from getting them in a year or so down the road.

Yes too loud and just sounds bad. The roar when starting the engine is awesome....but every other aspect of it is embarrassing.
I need to sell the thing it is just taking up garage space.
My one truly useless mod that I have done, which was also not a cheap one.

Same here. When the 2nd gen came out in 2005 I started saving up. I loved the way it looked but wanted to make sure it would last. Saved up cash from 2005 to 2011 and bought my truck in cash. Its perfect and everything I expected because I have been stalking them for years.
