Added extra awesomeness to its original awesomeness.
Then it is probably not a Tacoma at all!

I only paid 12K and it was very clean and runs very smooth. I like to go 4x4ing way up in the Rockies on the logging roads so I thought this Truck would be best for the job.

There was also a color matched SR5 package which came with the flares and mirrors and handles matched.

How could I tell if mine is an SR5 and not a TRD? I think the seller looked looked shady and this is why I doubt mine is a TRD.

It's both SR5 and TRD. According to ^^^^^^ it's not a limited because it has a color matched back bumper and no leather shift knobs.

truck looks nice, but stuff can be changed, badging changed etc etc.

    check this out https://auth2.toyota.com/owners/app....do?siteid=too_toyota_btmnav_ownersinfoupdate

and if all else fails get a car fax.

My truck says SR5 and TRD, BUT when looking up the vin, comes back as TRD and DLX, (deluxe, tad lower then sr5). so badge switches do occur. BUT i still claim sr5 cause i have found some sr5 parts on my truck :D

Your's is a TRD because of the rear locker. SR5 was included in the TRD package
The leather shift knobs only came on manuals. I agree it's not a limited though. It's a TRD with the color mastched SR5 package. (includes color-keyed bumpers, grille surround and door handles (includes color-keyed mirrors on 4x2 models, available on PreRunner and 4x4) )

Your year tacoma didn't come with a DLX. It was either SR5 or base or TRD. The LX and DLX were typically pre-taco truck designations. I think the 95.5-97 had the DLX though
