I've done mobil1 for my previous vehicles but I'll be doing Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 0-20w. local auto store stocks it and has really good sales once or twice a year so I can stock up.

Plus watching project farm do his test was entertaining.

Amsoil fanboy here...not because I think it is better than anything else out there, but because amsoil fanboys pay for my oil and differential changes. I became an amsoil dealer because or the benefits I saw when running oils through wet clutch motorcycle applications (and was doing oil changes several time a month after track days). When it comes to your typical car/truck oils, I will agree that any modern oil changed at a regular interval will suffice.

Yeah I'm not even sure what he was at when I started. I got his recommendations after watching Junkyard Diggs and his F250 revival videos which cause his channel to blow up.

Noticed that same thing on mine. Just changed to M1 from TGMO. Had me all kinds of worried then wondering if I somehow just never noticed it before. I then found other posts on this, some even in non-taco forums. I'll be swapping back to TGMO soon. This thread makes me feel a little better, and not crazy/paranoid.

I used Penzoil back when they had Rick Mears in their commercials, later making the switch to Mobil 1.

I use artisan hand crafted Mobiill Uno. It is made from one natural gas well in my friend Biill's front yard and corn liquor for viscosity modification. It is aged in 5 gallon homer buckets from the depot for a minimum of 8 days.
    I will never go back.

Back in the day... Sometime around when God was still in diapers... I started working at parts stores. People back then would come in to buy a rebuilt engine, saying, "Yeah, it's about time. The old girl is getting tired."

Almost always at about a hundred and fifty thousand miles.

So we would get the cores in and some were clean, and some were covered in gunk. So I started to ask some questions of the people bringing the cores in. How many miles? What brand of oil? How often do you change it?

Back in those days it was rumored that Quaker State and Pennzoil used paraffin in their oil, and the guys saying they used those brands had the engines full of built up gunk. The Valvoline engines were clean. But they all had the same miles on them. And it didn't seem to matter if the owners changed their oil religiously or not.

We were running circle track GM products at the time, and those "tired" engines replaced the engines we broke. They won as much as any of the fancier rigs backed by money, so we had a good time on the cheap.

Did anyone else hear a rocking chair creaking on an old wooden porch while reading this, or was that just me?

Thankfully, oil (like many things like say for example, headlights) have improved in the past 30 years. Modern synthetics are a real game-changer, no matter which brand a person uses. So is accessibility to information; if a particular brand of oil were causing sludge in engines, trust me the info would be out there.

The Kirkland/Costco 0W20 I think is the cheapest you can find. It also has the new API SP rating. It is what I use so...you know, it is like my lady friend, two big nice 5 quart jugs and really cheap.
