My early 2nd gen calls for 5w30 so that is what I have always used.
First 120k miles were on conventional, then switched to synthetic. No issues with the switch.
I use whatever name-brand synthetic is cheapest at the time, usually Mobil 1 (annual rebate) but once in a while it's Valvoline or Castrol.

I have 223,000...always have used conventional 5W30. Thinking my next oil change will be Mobil 1 5W30

I Used M1 5w30 at the first change after purchasing it last yr. I noticed after changing it to M1 I could hear things I couldn't hear when the conventional toyota oil was in it. Ran the M1 for 4k miles and just did oil change today and switched to pennzoil ultra platinum 5w30 after doing some research, and watching the project farm oil tests.

I also noticed the engine sounded like it did before when the conventional toyota oil was in it after starting it and driving after the PUP oil change. The is just a sample of one.

I never see temps below 65°F. I can't ever seem to find 5w30 anywhere, so l use 10w30.

I have always used Mobil 1 but I am going to switch to Pennzoil Ultra Platinum as soon as I run of of Mobil 1. I watched the "Project Farm" video on YT where that dude compares all the oils, seems like PUP is the best value. Bad part is I just stocked up on Mobil 1 thanks to the rebate, lol.

Ever hear of a vehicle blow up because they used the wrong brand of oil?

Viscosity is more important than brand in my opinion too. Unless you're buying an unheard of oil from an unheard of company, then maybe.
Whatever brand oil, with a good quality oil filter.

I submitted twice, once for one jug and again for 3 more jugs. I have received the $12 for the first submission, still waiting on submission #2. It has been mailed according to the status.
