Can someone explain to me why those old 1980s style floppy rubber mudflaps fell out of favour? Love the way they look and they also seem better for off-roading as they don't catch as easily as rigid ones.

How much did you pay for each? Where’d you buy your OEM? Thanks.

EBay for OEM mud flaps. They were $65 shipped.

WeatherTech website for the WeatherTech mudflaps. They were $90 shipped.

I don't like the way they look, I know they have a purpose but I think they take from the off-roadiness... :notsure:

I put RekGens on my truck a few weeks ago. They're fine but the directions were vague and the parts bags mis-labeled-- front and rear switched around. Did a rear flap first and the spacer grommet (seems like nylon reinforced rubber hose) and screw was way too long; I trimmed the rubber down before I realized that it was intended for the front wheel well. Whoops. Anyway, worked out fine in the end but that part was a frustrating waste of a few minutes. I just stacked the cut hose pieces up and put the screw in per usual... seems to be holding up so far.

I like my WeatherTech mudguards. My truck is a asphalt queen though so no need for flexible flaps.

Just think it’s interesting that someone will order 3 kinds of mudflaps because you don’t know what ones you like. Then either expect the companies to just take them back. Then either be willing to ship them back or expect companies to pay to ship them back.

So again, at least the shipping companies will be happy.

The things you find interesting are great, but you still haven't answered my question - How can I help you? What do you want? In other words, what should bigwill837 do (or refrain from doing) according to Spare Parts?

Order only one set of mudflaps? Decide which accessories are appropriate for my truck before handling them in person? Never be dissatisfied with online purchases and never return them? Make shipping companies sad?

The vendors I ordered from have a 30 to 60 day return policy. Part of the reason they have an extended return policy is because they want their customers to be happy, even if they don't ultimately keep all of the products they order. I have several WeatherTech products and I'm a repeat customer because they have excellent customer service. Same with the EBay vendor I use for OEM Toyota parts.

Yes, I will have to pay a little bit extra to compare the parts in-person and choose exactly what I want (and make the shipping companies "happy"). But I would rather get exactly what I want, than save a few bucks to keep something I'm not completely satisfied with.

And I think it's exceptionally arrogant for you to prescribe to me how I should modify my truck, or shop online to meet my needs.

    TLDNR?

    F*ck off.
