Hi, Any suggestions on what I should do or should I just sell it and find a new Tacoma . My mom was driving it hit a speed bump and axle ball joint just broke

Ouch; known issue...lower ball joint failure. Due to the design, it is strongly suggested that you only use a quality lower ball joint. Not only that, it's strongly suggested to replace them at a normal interval of 100k miles (road driving). Some people replace them every 50k miles (they offroad though).

    Get the truck home.

Replace the lower ball joint and bolts with OEM parts.

Pull your CV axle, DO NOT GIVE IT UP AS A CORE, and buy a parts store variant as a temporary solution while you reboot the OEM one you pulled.

    New tie rod end.

    Easy fixes really.

If the truck still runs good, fix it.
It happens, you aren’t the first.
It’s a “weak” point on the 1st gens.

Fix her up, and carry on!

I saw this happen to a 4runner. He just made a left turn and pop goes the weasel.

    Welcome to the forum!!

If you have the skills and tools to fix this go for it.

What kind of shape is the rest of the truck in?

Paying labor for this job can be expensive.

When you're on enough forums, it's common to see a new poster join, ask a question, and never come back.

Whether it's Clubrotary, Corvetteforum, LS1tech, calguns, w.e. you see it happen often enough.

'could' be a troll post too. Just to see how much dust could be stirred up. It happens.

OP, if I'm wrong, apologies. Just observation based speculation on my part.

I'd side with "non-forum" type versus troll

A troll wouldn't have included pictures and the sort

FC. Knowing what I know now I would have put it in storage instead of selling it. :annoyed:

It seems like it mostly happens at low speeds, like pulling into a parking lot or something like that. I’ve never seen one that failed at highway speeds. I read somewhere that they’re under more stress at lower speeds.
