Normally with deployed airbags, you would need the airbags themselves, a clockspring for the steering wheel, front/side sensors, depending as to which airbags deployed, and possibly the airbag control module. Don't forget a trip to the dealership for a complete diagnostic as well, and to replace the seat belts that were in use at the time of the impact. On another note, the right front door frame looks that way because the door shell itself is twisted and needs to be replaced.

OK, looks like most is repaired. Question is, was it good work, or did they cut corners. Not replacing the air bags seems like a bit of a flag to me.

That said, I would price out the retail value of new air bags and offer them that much less at least....if you decide to proceed.

You've seen the damaged photos. look at the cab on the passenger side where the door is hinged. Look for wrinkled metal and such. Look underneath at the frame and all suspension components. The suspension should be new on that side. Make sure the frame is straight and has the original paint. Ask for the alignment sheet to verify they got everything back where it should be. Sight along the side of the truck and make sure everything is aligned.

In perfect condition and not wrecked, it looks to be worth about $20,500. So you are at 5K diminished value. However, it likely had no guarantee in workmanship? Did you call an insurance company and see if they will insure that VIN?

Unless youre wanting to be the first guy to turn a 3rd gen into a wheeler (sas, one tons, 4 link, coilovers, dove tail, dove nose, twin stick, etc..) there is no reason to buy this. If you where going to do that you wouldn't be asking us in a forum youd have it in your shop already.

I will let someone answer who knows these things -- but just on face value of the picts --I don't see how anyone could give you a good answer on that question without seeing the truck in person --to say nothing of getting the truck on the machine to check for a bent Frame????

IMG_9618.jpg Thanks everyone. Saved me from big headaches.
People should be careful buying any salvage vehicle. Make sure that the inspection already took place and the vehicle and the vehicle was issued the new title and full (not temp.) registration. I actually found several more trucks like this one while shopping around. They buy at action, duct tape over huge issues, and look for a sucker.
I'm super happy with my new 08 Tacoma.

No BRO-ness to speak of... Well, except Kbro2's
    ^^^^^^^^ THIRD SENTENCE.

    OP,

The people selling this truck are doing it to make money. If replacing the airbags takes them out of the black and into the red, how on earth would you expect to be in the black buying it from them and paying their sales price which will include initial investment, repair costs and mark-up.... PLUS then having to replace the airbags?... If they can't do it and make money, you can't buy it and not be upside down. I'd much rather pay retail for a new one if i was going to be upside down anyway. At least you know that when you're done with it you can sell it. I know that wasn't your question, so my apologies for getting off the rails a bit but this is a no win brother. My $.02
