I’m putting on a 265/70r17 rim, the off brand Trd rim, not the official one from Toyota

the real trd rim from Toyota is a 17x7 rim. The after market rim is a 17x8 +5

the tire will measure 10.5 inches wide. Will that rim fit right on a 2022 stock Tacoma

    thank you too

Alright, not in a rude way, but tell me how I’m wrong. I say this wanting to know what’s right, not prove you wrong.

alright my tire I’m putting on is a 10 1/2 inch wide tire. My rim is 8 inches wide. With a +5 offset. It looks like I have 5 1/4 to 5 and 1/2 inches before I hit the suspension components. I’ll post a picture to show you what I’m taking about. I already bought the rims. My point is it looks like it’s close

the center of a 10.5 tire is 5 1/4 and on a +5 rim I don’t have 5 1/4 inch of space before I run into the suspension component

Am I thinking about this wrong? I also haven’t seen anyone else use a +5 rim. Help me out

You're letting the rim width difference mess with your head.

    TRD is 17x7 +4
    Aftermarket is 17x8.5 +5

Basically the only difference is how far the rim protrudes in or out of the tire. The 8.5 will just sit more flush with the tire. It's not going to move the tire inboard or outboard.

I want to caveat my previous post.

Because an 8.5" is 0.5 wider than the 'measured rim width' of a 265/70/17 the section width will increase 5mm, placing the tire 2.5mm inboard. But the +5mm offset moves the wheel out 1mm over the TRD. So, the tire will sit 1.5mm inboard.

That said, what wheels and tires are you measuring in the pic? All the info I provided is TRD vs aftermarket...

The tire in the picture is a 245/75/r16 on a base model 2022 Tacoma with base model rims. Base model rims as in the rims that look like spare tire rims

so you think they will fit? I’ve just been nervous trying to figure it out because at every turn on the first rims I bought, I got it all wrong

I've got a set of Fuel 17x8.5 zero offset wheels and 265/70-17 tires on my 2011 SR5, which has less suspension lift than the TRD's. The inside edge of the front tires clear the upper arm by 1-1/2 inches, and I barely clear the fender liner at the front/back outer tire edge at full lock. The factory tire/wheel on my truck are 16x7 +20 (?) and 245/75-16 tires.

Your current wheel is 16x7 +25mm.
    You're fine.
The offset change will move the center of the tire outboard 20mm. Section width change moves the sidewall back inboard 10mm. You'll gain 10mm of clearance to the suspension. Or rather, 7.5mm of clearance, after section width stretch from mounting on a rim width 0.5" greater than the measured rim width for a 265/70/17.
