I have a stock 2018 SR5 4wd double cab.after reading all the threads decided to upgrade to 265/75/r16 tires and putting them on some 16x8 aftermarket wheels. My question is if the stock wheels had an offset (backspace) what off set would I need to get the tires a little more than flush to the fenders. I’d like to have 1/8- 1/4” or so for a more aggressive stance. Will I get that with by going from 16x7 to 16x8 and finding a similar offset as stock?
The ones I’m looking at have an offset of 20 . thanks for your time everyone

0 offset on an 8 inch rim would make it flush. Anything higher or lower than 0 will either push it into or out of the wheel well. I have -12 offset and my tires stick out ~1.5 inches

Try this website. Very helpful to get a numerical and visual idea on comparing 1 wheel to another.
    willtheyfit.com
These day most wheel guys just refer to offset and not so much back spacing anymore. Wheel width has a factor in the equation so just compare apples to apples. My wife’s jeep had something like a +40 offset on a 17x7.5” wheel. She ended up getting a 17x8.5” wheel that had a 0 offset. Just pokes out slightly from fender edge.
Op what’s the width of the wheel you’re considering and what’s the width and offset on the wheels you’re replacing?

The stock sr5 wheel is 16x7 . I want to replace it with 16x8 and a 20 positive offset . stivk suspension , wanting 265/75 but will settle for smaller if rubbing will be an issue. Since I’m getting both wheel and tires I would like the offset to help me get 1/4-1/2 inch of poke.

thanks everyone for all the help !!

So maybe instead of positive 20 I should be thinking negative 6ish ?

The further outward (negative offset) you go the greater your chances will be for some rubbing. Like the other post above said somewhere around 0 will likely suit you best but I’d like to know the offset on the stock wheel you’ve got.

So if I got all of your numbers correct your wheel poke will only be about 18 mm (slightly over 1/2”) further out. If you went to a +6 offset that gives you about a 31mm poke (little over an inch).

If I had to guess you’d probably have some slight rubbing. You’ll most likely have to remove mud flaps at a minimum as that’ll be the main cause of rubbing.

You need to use the metric system.

265/75/16 is what I have and its the largest tire size that'll fit with stock suspension. Different offsets may cause rubbing. At the most you'll just have to remove mud flaps if you have them

Like post above best bet is a 265. Honestly the key is offset and alignment. I see post all the time asking what’s the biggest tire I can run with a lift. A lift is only relevant when the truck is just parked. Once you start driving, hitting bumps and what not your suspension is going to cycle and at some point in time the tire is going to go up into the wheel well at and beyond stock static height. With that said a 275 or 285 will fit into the wheel well.
