@CMillTacoma Why would you love to use 5W-30? I'm really trying to understand what benefit you are getting.

Yes. If you want, you can look at the effects of a 10,000 mile interval in one of the links in my signature.

    Use AmsOil Signature Series 0w-20.
I used to think thicker oil protected better during cold start by sticking to the bearings. I researched it, I was wrong.
Oil is too thick to lubricate properly when it's cold, lighter oil is better when the engine is cold.

I never was a believer in synthetic oil until I bought some from Amsoil for our Jeep JK. It made such a difference in engine noise and gas mileage that I only use Amsoil today. Changed out the oil in my new 2017 TRD Sport with Amsoil 0-20 signature series and experienced the same results. Never buying anything else going forward.

Look for our engine equivalent in other countries and see what oil is recommended.
My wife has a 17 Camry also with 0W-20. Same car is sold not only in the US. Look for the oil recommended for it.
    0W-20 is for CAFE/EPA appeasement.

Yup.... I got 46,000 miles on my truck. I did the last two oil changes. All oil changes have been at 10,000 miles. I did not do a "engine break in" oil change. The last two changes showed no issues with bearings or oil degradation. It protects better at low temps than heavier weight oils do. I don't see ANY benefit in using a 5W-30 or heavier oil.

All that in the name of better for gas mileage/emissions..... what's not to like and what benefit is it to use a heavier oil? Seriously, I want to understand.

5k oil changes that don't cost a ton and work fine for lube if thats the case.
How do you know there's no issues with bearing wear?

What's the price difference between 2 5k oil changes and 1 10k oil change.

If you have bearing wear issues, you will see it in the oil analysis. Click here for my last two tests. Oil analysis is pretty common in many industries and is used to determine when oil should be changed saving time, money, and issues related to working on equipment. You will always have some wear, but if you have bearing issues, you should see a step change or a gradual increase in the metals used to make your bearings.

Nothing really, I was simply concerned that the 10k would be to long for the oil since many have mentioned this was a simple EPA thing. I know that 5k oil changes work great from past experience and I have a tendency to stick with what I'm comfortable with.

After looking at your info I'll feel fine making the leap for the 1st time to the 10k interval, thanks for your help!

I use leftover peanut oil from local donut shops. Works “wonders” on new motors. Smells awesome, but I get pulled over a lot.

A few choices out there but almost all are not suitable for vehicles with catalytic converters, so before doing those access cab track days, remove the cats! :burnrubber:
