    It's less Tacoma and more mod
    Part of the resonance cancellation thing. Also allows a place to hook up vacuum hoses

    It's the intake silencer.. helps drown out some of the intake noise.

    Search for ISR Mod on the forums..

    I recently did this mod and it made a noticeable difference in drivability.. my truck is supercharged which delated the vacuum line to this box. This box becomes an area of low pressure and when the pressure gets so low it burps creating a significant disturbance in the intake tracK.. Obviously this would not be an issue if the vacuum line where still there.

    Anyway.. my AFR is much more linear and the engine seems more responsive since the removal.
