What part of "no soliciting" don't they understand?

I live in Colorado Springs and just recently moved here. I'm having a major problem with sketchy ass people coming to my door EVEN THOUGH I have a very clearly posted no soliciting sign posted before you can even get up my front porch. I've been nice letting them know I'm not interested, I've been a complete asshole and told them to leave my property before I call the cops(but it takes forever for them to respond), I've done everything I can think of. I'm military and at work all day while my wife is at home. She's even told me she's heard the doorknob be turned once before.

I'm not particularly worried about my wife being home alone, as she knows quite well how to use my glock, but I don't know what else to do to keep this bastards coming to my house and possibly casing it for a break in.

We don't have air conditioning (not really a need for it here because it doesn't get very hot) so I have my windows open all the time to let air in. I have a pretty nice house full of nice things pretty much open for anybody to see in if they walk up to my door.

I googled no soliciting laws around here and all I see is news articles of people "selling door to door" just so they can case a house for a break-in.

Maybe I'm just being paranoid about the whole thing, idk.

Any legitimate advice from anybody on here?

I have a dog. A 100lb black lab pit mix that isn't too fond of strangers. But that doesn't help either. They just knock and ask if she bites. I say yes and they continue to come back

unfortunately, solicitors are so far down on the LEO's priority list there isn't much you can do other than what you have been doing. We have signs, neighborhood has signs at all entry points, told the same jerkoffs 3 times before I wasn't interested and they still came back. Took the 3rd time of being a straight up asshole to them that now I see they avoid my house.

Also helps that my GSD tried getting out past me and probably scared the crap outta him. I just ignore the door now if I see it is a solicitor and let the dog scare them off.

I hate them, too. If I'm not expecting someone to be at the door I take my cell phone with me when I answer it. If it's a solicitor I pretend like I'm talking to someone and wave off the asshole, saying "Not interested; I'm on a call, don't come back" and then shut the door in their face.

This is a good idea but I'm not looking to spend thousands as I'm just renting the home. I'm not a homeowner because I move often due to the military

I'm not afraid of exercising my 2nd amendment rights either, but I don't need to be getting into trouble with the law at the same time. People can take that as a death threat and I will get fucked by Johnny Law and the military at the same time.

    You're over-thinking this.

"NO SOLICITING. Not interested. Sorry. Bye."

Your wife doesn't even have to open the door to say this.

If your hope is to keep folks from walking up to your door when no one's home, well, I'm afraid that's like trying to keep back the tide at the beach. Only hope there is a locked gate and fence out at the street. But then you'll have to put your mailbox out there too, because the mailman won't go through a locked gate. And that's an expense you're unlikely to want to incur as a renter.

And if you're concerned about being "cased" - have your wife hang lacy girly fru-fru curtains over the windows that let light and air in but that make it hard for folks to see in from outside.

Saw on YT where a guy rigged a water gun to a remote he controlled with his computer, put a sign on his yard "solicitors will be shot with water" .. hilarity ensued.

We have a 300' driveway and had the same issues. I put a cow gate at the end, now we don't have problems anymore. Plus it deters would-be thieves. The posts are concreted in, all fasteners are JB welded, and the lock is bolt-cutter resistant. Someone would need a vehicle to pull it down with a chain, but they'd have to be in the middle of the road to do it and it would attract a lot of attention.

What part of town do you live in?

We have a problem with it too over here in Old Colorado City. Dad always answers the door with a gun on him. If I'm alone, I don't answer at all. Maybe you can rig up a train horn or something. That'd be entertaining. Or make a mat with nails on it so they can't reach the doorbell.

And our police force here sucks so definitely don't rely on them. Almost shot a guy once and took them forever to respond to that. Had to call 911 the other day because some guy was running in the road yelling and jumping in front of cars in a large intersection and took them almost 2 minutes to answer the phone. Never thought I'd see the day where you call 911 and it just rings and rings and rings.

Answer your door in your underwear scratching your head with a pistol. The Jehovah's haven't been back since. It might work with your problem just don't have the wife try it lol.

    BRILLIANT!!

I have "no soliciting" on my door, but retards ring/knock anyway. I was thinking of a sign that says trespassers will be shot, survivors shot again" but I'm sure the HOA and my employer would not be amused.

Your house/yard looks to nice im assuming. I used to have the door to door salesmen problem. Last year I spent very little time at home and my yard got over grown and my grass died and my boat left a 37 foot long dead spot so my yard looks terrible. I have noticed that my neighbors get all of the door to door type. I don't get anyone coming any more save the Jehovah witnesses.
