What phone is everyone out there using and how well does it work with your truck? It's time for me to upgrade my phone, and I use my phone a lot while driving. What problems do you have, if any? I think this could be useful to many. Thanks.

Lets see, since I've owned the Tacoma I've had the iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6S, Nexus 5X, HTC 10, iPhone SE, and the iPhone 7.

I have had zero issues with any of the phones iOS or Android. The Android devices seemed to have a little more functionality as far as the phone and messaging systems in Entune go, but iOS works fine for calling and reading messages at least as well as Bluetooth music playback. Though I have my iPod Classic hooked up to it 100% of the time via USB for music anyway.

Calls are clear on both parties with every phone I've used, though I had a few complaints with the SE I had. But that was outside the truck as well. iPhone 6s/7 are great options, and any Nexus or the upcoming Pixel now would be a good choice as well. Not a fan of Samsung software or their UI on top of Android. HTC makes some good phones, though they're slowly going away due to poor marketing on their part.

Since I have had the truck

iPhone 6 - Worked perfectly with the truck

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge - Horrible phone. Hated it from day 1. Wanted to change it up from Apple but regretted it. Doesn't stream over bluetooth automatically, unable to play over USB. Horrible unstable OS outside of the truck. Random restarts, lag while texting, slow apps to name a few of the issues.

iPhone 7 Plus - Back to a smooth stable OS. Never leaving Apple again.

weird that your S7 was not working great. I had iphone 4S, iphone 6, nexus 5 and galaxy S7 and seriously the S7 is a beast of a phone, one of the best i've had.. The glass on the front is weak has hell and the phone is the most slippery phone i've ever had but it work perfectly, no problem with it.

S7 work perfectly with the truck, bluetooth connect automatically when i start the truck

Galaxy S6, Only problem I've experienced is playing pandora. When it goes from streaming over Wi-Fi to over 4G, it sometimes screws up the playback in Entune and I have to restart the truck to reset.

I like to live dangerously so Galaxy S7. Everything works perfectly. Hopefully it doesn't detonate and take my truck with it.

I loved the design of the phone but the OS was very unstable, at least for me. I would take the phone out of my pocket to unlock with my fingerprint and it would require me to put in my passcode because "The phone restarted and requires you to put in your passcode." This would happen about 10 times a day.
I would be texting someone and about 3 words into the text it would lag and cause me to misspell words, put wrongs words, and then the predictive text would randomly turn off every few days.
The data the phone used was about double from my iPhone 6.
Apps were very unstable and would crash in the middle of doing something "XXXXX app has stopped working"
Get into my truck, hit play from bluetooth on the screen, it would show the song on the dash but wouldnt play until I took the phone out, loaded the Google Music app and hit play on the phone. Would have to do this every time. With the iPhone, I get in the truck and it automatically picks up right where it left off. Also with the S7, while plugged in USB through the truck, you cant play music. It has to be done over bluetooth so the quality of music isnt as great.

You need to use nova launcher over any samsung phone to get rid of touchwizz, because touchwizz is ruining completly the experience of android

I give you reason on that point, iphone will always be the best OS for music, all android phone are really bad for playing music, your notifications sound, ringtones and music are all mixted up

Oh believe me I know. I have only owned one Samsung phone. That would be the Galaxy S III from 2012-2013. While it was a good phone in the hardware department in it's era (Snapdragon S4, 720p display, 2GB RAM) Touchwiz drove me crazy. As soon as the boot loader was unlocked (VZW at the time) I was off to using different ROMs and kernels all the time till I settled in on CleanROM and/or CyanogenMod once it was stable. Never went back to Samsung after that. Been HTC/LG/Nexus/Motorola and Apple for the most part. Anything with minimal modifications to Android. The S7 is still a good phone and Touchwiz has been toned down over the years and is a lot less resource intensive than it used to be. But it's still there.

iOS is more of my home at this point, though iOS 10 is certainly not without it's share of bugs. Android 6.0+ is great though.

In my early 20s I loved Android. Had the iPhone 3g then switched to the HTC Evo and I loved it. Now that I am pushing 30 and in more of a business setting, I use my phone for emails, calls, text, and music. I think if I was still into all of the phone customization I would enjoy Android more but having to go through every option in the phone to make sure its not deleting emails, messages are being stored correctly, pictures are being saved (thats another issue I had, I would take a picture with the S7 Edge and it wouldn't save it). I like to have a phone that works right out of the box with little option customization. I really wanted the S7 Edge to work for me but it fell short.

My brother who is a few years older than me swears by Android, I think its because he has always had Android so the settings required when upgrading are just burned into his brain to automatically change.

S7 Edge (since launch) and aside from the Entune devs screwing up Pandora access, it's been awesome. The only time I ever saw a reboot was after an overheat while using Gear VR but I ordered some gel packs on Amazon to deal with that, no issues since.

I have an iPhone 6s Plus and Samsung Note 5. The note 5 has wireless charging so I will give
the advantage to my note 5.
