    I'm in the same boat... I paid $2500 for my macbook pro. The charging cable starting melting where the magnet meets the cord. It is a well documented issue. If you pull up google images for "macbook charging cable melting", you will get thousands of pictures, literally. I took it into my local Apple store as the wires were exposed and didn't feel safe using it in my home anymore. The "Genius" knew about the issue it but couldn't offer me anything accept for a new $80 charging cable. That is the last time I get tricked into buying thier overpriced products. I could have bought 5 PC's that can do the same thing for what I paid for this thing...
