Interesting. I'm curious about them mainly because I just did a bunch of reading on the A/T3W tires and found pretty much no negative reviews and a lot of reviews speaking highly of there winter traction. I ordered a set earlier this week, waiting on delivery.

Looks like Falken has a Wildpeak M/T, A/T, and H/T tire. The M/T looks like a run of the mill Mud Terrain, and the H/T appears to be a typical vanilla high mileage Highway tire. The only tire with the Severe Weather rating is the A/T3W, it has a different compound (in the lighter, S 4 ply rated tire, not the E 10 ply version), as well as siping for ice/snow. Everything points in the direction that it would be a pretty good performer.

I'm replacing KO2's at 18k due to being disappointed in there winter performance. Worst case, I have 30 days to return them and buy into a different tire if they don't meet expectations, but there are pretty economical so I'm hoping they perform well.

I drive a lot of on highway snow/ice miles each year.

I'm in SoCal but I grew up in in nyc area and did the rain, snow and beach driving over the years. It's odd to hear that the bfg's were not good, for me they seemed to do everything, even when I came out here and would go wheeling.
That being said, I'm sure they were the older versions and the load range c, that might be the difference.
I really don't understand why a small tire size would have such a high load rating.

The falkens are the A/T3W, they're on a 2011 4x4 ram so it's a different animal.....I didn't look at the load rating but the other truckI had was a 2012 and it had 285 bfg ko2s and I like those a lot better.
I think the tires boil down to personal preference.....

I run 30 psi, rides great but likely hurts mpg more. Have 5k km so far and still measure 14/32 which they did when new

Might as well have typed 348. Makes just as much sense.

I set mine to 38 when I had them. I went with Cooper ATP the second time around. The BFG's took quite a bit off my MPG while the ATP's were a bit higher load range (116 vs stock 112), and weigh 40lb each. MPG mostly went back up. They are not as aggressive for sure, but the KO2 doesn't have a good rep in the rain and it rain's here. A lot... So far no issues in the rain with the ATP's, which I keep at 34.
