19….Fuel pump actually failed coincidentally about 3 weeks after I got the recall notice and stalled it. It restarted for me to get it home and then to the dealer the next day. The new recall fix part wasn’t out yet but they got the ok to install one they had on the shelf to get me by rather than have to give me a rental for who knew how long at the time. Few months later they replaced it with the updated part and it’s been fine.

Other than that, original battery failed around 4 years in but it’s my daily driver here in Florida and I’m stunned it lasted that long….truck has been 100% completely reliable otherwise.

    47K - Driveshaft carrier bearing
48K - Leaky cracked PS reservoir
50K - Noticed PS rack boots wet
60K - Brakes shaking when applied at high speed
66K - AC compressor groaning when activated
66K - high pressure fuel pump started to chirp and continues to do so unless ethanol free fuel is used

Tired of this truck and am very tempted to get either an old Frontier or a 2024+ Tacoma.

Yeah, it all comes down to knowing when to cut your losses. That can be emotionally or monetarily. A new owner my be thrilled with your truck.

Most issues during the 1st 6 months.

Dead battery would leave me stranded. Trip to dealer several times, nothing wrong. After doing research on 3rd party car alarms, I took it back to dealer to have it removed. Dealer says no alarm on truck even though there's a karr sticker on window. Took it to a friend who has a car audio shop, he found the alarm & removed it. End of battery issues. Several weeks later, dealer contacted me (after my negative survey) & wanted me to bring it in to re-check for alarm. I said F off. You cost me 2 tows & paying to remove alarm you should have.

Twice we went on trips to Yosemite for a week at a time. Both times, mice got under hood & dined on my soy based wiring. This one still pisses me off- afraid to drive it anywhere overnight where I have to park outdoors. My 2009 never had that issue parking at same place.

2 recalls, wiring in column & the dreaded weld slag on rear. Column was fine. Weld slag deal- the moron tech had truck on lift & when he lowered it, the driver door hit something & put a deep scratch & crease in door- also damaging the door handle. Took several months of fighting & them reviewing their photos & video. They promised they would repaint at dealer. Went by 3 days later & found out they sent it to a hack body shop. Took it back to dealer a week later when the Tacoma blacked out emblem fell off door & into the sand. I left truck for an hour while they were suppose to install a new one, they cleaned & installed the old one. That lasted a week & it fell off too. Whatever they cleaned the new clear coat with, clouded the clear. They accused me of doing it. The whole door repair was never on any invoice to me. When I asked for one, they don't give paperwork for in house repairs that are their fault. Wonder why?
Took it to a detailer- he thinks they used acetone on door with new paint still outgassing. No guarantee if it will buff out.

The last 6 months have been trouble free but I'm done with this truck with only 8k miles. I need a truck with old school wiring that's not baiting the wildlife. We go to Yosemite cabin 2-3 times a year. Can't afford to have car rewired every trip.
And that dealer can go fuck themselves. Lies from day one.

    I’ll provide a data point

    ‘22 Tacoma TRD Off-Road with 45k miles. 3.5 V6, Manual

So far, the only issues are the OEM battery leaking acid and the paint is thin, can chip it real easy

Interesting about the OEM batteries leaking. I replaced mine today with an Interstate because the OEM was leaking pretty bad.

I would be feeling the same way about the truck. Hopefully you get the truck that will make you happy. Life is too short :)

What were the symptoms of your failed clutch? I have a groan noise that comes on every time the clutch kicks on, and it’s slowly getting louder and more noticeable. I’m tempted to order a clutch but I have my doubts that will solve the problem.

Tacoma is one of my consideration, I am planning buying a pickup truck this year, but not sure which brand is good.
