I regret 265/75/16’s... should’ve went 285’s out the box. Can be fixed next tire change at least.

I almost went with 255/75r17, but those were over a month backordered. Made my decision to go with the 285’s easy.

522.06 after shipping on DCLB sliders. I'm in it for under $400 all said and done. :notsure: Might've been worth the extra 100 or so to not have the hassle though. These are pretty stout though with a square tube DOM main.

C rated. Which I'm assuming means E rated would be even worse.
Balancing issues. Grip in sand is pretty bad, which is the majority of my off-roading terrain. Price is pretty stupid too, for a set of ATs. Why're basically a MT price.

Getting sliders without fill plates... No fill plates is very dangerous for old dogs.

The Yelp my my old dog made when she slipped getting out of the truck and her leg got tweaked between the rocker and the slider tube. It only broke my heart and luckily not her leg.

I have since made my own fill plate but do yourself a favor and get fill plates when you buy new especially if you have a dog that rides in the truck.

Seattle BAH is nice, but I'm damned glad to have moved away.

I'm from the area, but I now live 40 minutes away so I still get the BAH but have a much nicer house on a lake for the price of a townhouse or fixer upper in Seattle proper. Pros and cons.

Care to explain? I’m cross shopping tires now and these seem hard to beat vs price. Comparing with Cooper ST Maxx and Goodyear Duratrac Wranglers.

They're the cool kid tire so the price has inflated past the value they offer. They're a very heavy and hard tire that is mostly only available in an e rating (unnecessary for our light trucks). I ran them for three and a half years. They have mediocre wet pavement performance, they have mediocre gravel/dirt performance, they do very well in snow surprisingly, they're average (but not super grippy) on dry pavement (pretty quiet at least). Mine had a tendency to chunk out easily, wheeling would leave them missing tread pieces in sizable chunks, they never balanced acceptably and required absurd amounts of weight on two different sets of wheels and frequent re-balances. I rotated them frequently to keep them wearing evenly which did help but it required a lot more work.

If you could buy the BFG KO2 in a 31/33 ish size for ~$110 a tire then it wouldn't be so bad, but it is branded and sold as a "premium tire" which in the most simple terms, it is not. It reflects the quality and traction of a cheap/midlevel offbrand tire for the price of a high performance premium brand tire. If you aren't going to be playing in any rock crawling situations then I highly recommend the Duratracs, they're a great all around tire with a very flexible sidewall (just watch out for that on sharp rocks).

Thanks! He’s a tamaskan. I took him home when he was 9 weeks old. He’s 7.5 years old now and the best companion a man could ask for.

That’s what my research seems to be pointing towards. BFG KO2s (load range D) seem to be available under $200/tire. ST Maxx (E only) and Duratracs (load range C) are in the $240 range. Wasn’t sure if the extra cash panned out in performance.

Buying the tires before the lift then having the turning radius of a school bus. Ended up renting a car for 2 weeks till all my lift gear came in. Should have done my research and been more patient, lesson learned:notsure:

But I learned and sold the truck and bought my FJ and all has been well for the last few years. Though, now I get middle aged guys in khaki pants always chatting me up about the FJ lol

I went with Nitto Ridge Grapplers. More aggressive than ATs like the KO2 but no drawbacks like true mud tires. Plus you can get them in C range. They're great in the rain, snow and dirt. The only thing I have not taken them in is thick mud (not in my area). I'm a big fan so far. I have heard their traction goes down at around 20k since the compound is soft, but I'm only about 15k miles in on them so far. I got them with employee discount from a friend who works at Nitto so the price wasn't bad either.

However, if I go 35s I'll probably go Wrangler MT/Rs because the nitto ridge grapplers in 35s are just so damn heavy. Same with the KM3s.
