what rear diff fluid?

whats the besd rear diff. fluid to use?

Mobil1 75w90 or royal purple 75w90 are both good. Mobil1 a lil cheaper,and you can get them local.

 

is the front diff. the same as well? and is there a special socket needed to do it?

 

Chase from ECGS says Royal Purple is the worst gear oil that you can use. He recommends Lucas Dyno oil 85/140w

I like Red Line fluids. In the diffs, I use their 75W90 GL-5 gear oil. In the transmission and transfer case, I like MT-90.

how many quarts does the diff take?

 

Like 3 or 4. Just pour it till it starts coming out and put the cap back on.

 

ok and any special tools to take the cap off?

 

Amsoil Severe Gear 75W90 all around. No special wrench/tool required, but you do need the right crush washer replacements.

 

My rear diff took right at 3. And I use Mobil1 75w90 in both different and transfer case.

I've never heard that about rp being shitty.

 

Front diff is a big allen head. Transfer case and rear diff fill and drain plugs are 24mm,and you do need the right crush washers.

 

What he said. Its nothing special, pretty dang easy. Front diff is a little bit more difficult and I used a funnel with a hose to make life easier pouring it in.

 

As far as the fill/drain plugs go, best bet is to give them a crack with a hammer flush on their faces. 99% of the time they will become loose enough to remove without a wrench. BE SURE TO REMOVE FILL PLUGS FIRST!!!
