I've got a couple screw holes in my bed (see photo). I think something went there but don't know what (bought the truck used). I want to plug the holes to prevent rust. Tried to get some screws from Home Depot, but they didn't fit and didn't want to cross thread. Is it special Toyota hardware?

I think I read somewhere that they're for a bed cover.

    Edit: Damnit, too slow. :frusty:

Those 2 holes are for the cover as said above, the other holes can be used to mount a 2nd Gen track.

So, now that we know what they're for, has anyone come up with other creative uses for them when not using a tonneau cover? Just wonderin'.

All of the bolts on the Tacoma are metric, and those two threaded holes accept M6 x 1.0 bolts which is not a special size metric bolt, and they be found at any good hardware store. Let me take a guess that after looking at the threads you tried screwing in 1/4-28 SAE bolts.

Led pod! Use it as a back up light. I think cali raised has a bracket to mount one for those holes

The OP question was what size screws fit the threaded holes in the picture, and none of the other 10 responses answered his question except mine.

You could bolt up some eye bolts etc, for tie downs, maybe a bike fork miunt for transport. Led pod brackets etc.
