What security bolts do you use to secure items to the bed rail?

What is everyone using to secure items to their bed rails? I had some brackets made that attach to the rails, but I have to park on the street and though I live in a decent neighborhood, cars do get broken into here, so the criminal element does exist in the immediate area.

Looking for what you've used. The research I've done shows alan/hex bolts with a pin in the middle are extremely common and easy to defeat. I've seen some security bolts that look pretty good but will cost over $100 (minimum order amount). I don't have too much of a problem with that as the racks were over $300, the brackets $150 and whatever is on the racks (most likely skis) just add to the cost of items I'd like to protect. However, if there are other things that are just or almost as secure that are cheaper, I'd be interested in hearing about them.

Suggestions of putting things in the cab or to buy a tonneau/shell, while appreciated, are not in the solution set right now. Looking to keep the bed open for the time being.

I just use a regular bolt, after 6 months it’s rusted to hell anyway and won’t come off unless you cut it.

I just use regular bolts but take a look at Mcmaster for ideas, they have like 5 sided bolts and all kinds of weird stuff

Are 5 sided bolts all that difficult to remove? Was thinking a pair of pliers might be able to get turning since they could grab on the flat side and the grooves on the pliers could get a grip on the opposing point.

Oh probably, that was just an example I could think of off the top of my head

Thanks for the suggestion! I'm probably overthinking this whole project, but nothing will piss me off more after finally getting it all done just to have someone take off with it :sawzall:
