Frist of all, this is a wonderful site...I cannot believe I did not find it sooner.

2017 Taco just over 100,00 miles and the ride is getting bad.
It came off the showroom floor with 285 tires and a dealer\port installed lift. I have no documentation on the lift kit. I *think* it is 3" on the front and 2" on the back...but that has been six years ago.

I need to replace my shocks but after an hour online (most on this site) I still cannot figure out what I need. I assume the shocks are not the standard ones due to the lift. Is this correct?

I would be happy with just matching the originals...but I have had zero luck searching for those part numbers

    Front Left Hitachi 48510-04202
Front Right Hitachi 48510-042?0 (label damaged)

    Right Rear is 48530-04130

Any clues? I tried calling the dealer, but they were not much help.

What trim level is your truck? Pictures of what's on it will help as well.

Wow! Thanks for the quick responses.

The shock part numbers are visible and marked "Toyota Hitachi" but I have had zero luck looking these up, including on the dealer's parts search.
Taking a tape measure to the parts I think are involved, it may be a 2" front and 1" rear.

No clue on the trim level. There are no badges on the exterior and nothing on the interior. Following a collision where the front right was hit, the repair place said they had trouble figuring it out, because the VIN did not match up with how the truck was configured.

In front shock picture, there appears to be a stamped part number on the upper part of the shock...I'll try to get that entire number.

At this point I would invest a bit of money and replace the block lift with a better options. Will ride better.
    Those are original sr5 shock

    4 run, 2 don't
You are in fact, running standard shocks.

They just added the cheapest lift on the market which are simply blocks on top of your factory suspension.

Get factory shocks, get the blocks tossed, and get new u bolts for your leaf pack and call it a day.

Non-serviceable shocks like those normally get tossed at 50k miles.

That's an SR5. It says SR5 right behind the rear door. They came with black Hitachi shocks. Now would be a good time to upgrade to some Bilstein 5100's, an AAL and front springs.

yeah, that is a spacer lift,,, as mentioned, it is just that,,, spacers added to an otherwise all stock suspension. Hopefully they didn't gouge you too bad, as it's a few bucks worth of parts and work, but that ship has sailed.
You can just put stock shocks back on, remove the spacers and put stock shocks back on as mentioned (but make sure your larger tires won't rub), or get an actual suspension lift with aftermarket shocks.

It was reasonable. $1200 more then the truck without the 17" wheels, 285/70R17 tires, and the running boards. I had already priced running boards and wheels and it made sense.

    Thanks all.

It gets the job done for me as-is, I just need the new shocks.
This is what the dogs and I quail hunt out of. It just needs to make the lease roads and not get us stuck in the mud or sand.

A/T or mud tires is what helps, the lift doesn't raise the lowest part of the vehicle (axles/diffs) off the ground, tires do. Lifts are usually for looks or help clear larger tires,, to a certain extent.
But, it sounds like you have what you need, so get some new shocks and rock on!

Since you are rocking a full stock suspension setup with only a spacer lift, grab a set of take-off's from the Off-Road (pnp onto your SR5) if you want a simple bolt-on option. They can usually be found for ~$300ish fully assembled with low miles (<1k) and ride much better than those Hitachi's ever could. Else, grab some Bilstein 4600's if you want the truck to still ride nice and are only interested in changing the shocks. IMO the 5100's are a little harsh.

You have a spacer lift, you will order stock replacements. See your front struts, the mounts should be flush in the bucket(from factory) but yours has a spacer. Many dealers do this “lift” bc it only cost them $300 in parts(blocks and spacers). OEMs will work for you
