Hi! I have been doing research on this question throughout the forums and Google, YouTube, etc., but as a new 1st Gen Tacoma owner I do get a little paranoid about sounds and what not due to my lack of knowledge. From the pictures posted below, can you guys give me a little information on what I should be looking to replace? Here are the pictures, along with my concerns and what I am determining; so please, correct me if I'm wrong.

Shocks- Bilstein 5100, aftermarket, it appears that fluid is leaking. I haven't noticed any difference in the ride quality; so they are not a huge concern yet. Front right shock has spacers, looks misaligned?
Coilovers- Rusted, I don't know if that affects anything.
CV- Boots are worn, green color- aftermarket?
Driveline?- I'm sorry, I don't know the correct names for parts. I am young and trying my best to learn. I don't know what's going on there...
Frame Rust- I have done a thorough inspection and everything is surface rust, no cracks, damage, etc. Going to service by removing and protectant soon.
    All other pictures- ? :(

Looks like you got most of it. That strut spacer is usually put on drivers side to prevent the "taco lean"

The 5100s leaking is pretty common and shouldn't affect ride quality for a while but then again you dont know how long theyve been leaking. Their fairly cheap to replace.

    Cvs look factory

Excess Grease on driveshaft slip joint could be from over filling but no big deal.

All that stuff looks ok to me. The frame looks to be in good shape. Get some fluid film on it. (or some other anti rust stuff)

you can also touch up the surface rust with anti rust primer before fluid filming.

i don't really see anything that needs to be replaced in any of these pics. but that doesnt mean everything is ok. biggest thing is to get an alignment done. everything involved in an alignment will cover the greatest concerns. also ask them to rotate your tires while theyre at it (if it hasn't been done recently). that way you can ask the tech to do a break inspection as well. that just about covers the most important aspects for safety.

from there, get a scangauge and keep an eye on the fuel trims VS the o2 sensor readings and any codes it may throw. make sure the coolant stays just below boiling (212f, 100c).

you may also want to have the 3 mounts and the carrier looked at.

anything else is just loose nuts and bolts.

    good luck!

If you're worried about that amount of rust don't move to the north east.

I just replaced my front coils/shocks, the top bolts had to be cut off as they looked like they were under the ocean for a decade.

A truck like that, as rust free as it is, would go for $13+K up here, pretty much a unicorn..

Im jealous of how easy southern/west coast tacomas have it. I also Had to cut off the top shock nut on both sides and had to cut off a sway bar bolt plus the rear end of my frame is a nightmare

I am not worried so much for the rust as I am about my knowledge. Although here in Utah, there are a lot of salty roads due to snow in the winter time. I lucked out big time onthe price for my truck; and am extatic to own and have the opportunity to work on it. Thanks for the advice all.
