I have a 2012 Tacoma sr5. I sadly do not have a locking rear Diff. would like to have front and rear on my truck. As of right now it has a 3" lift running on 265/65r17 Toyo open country at II its not a huge tire. Just curious if I should re-gear my rear axle and if so what ratio would be best. thanks

Is going to be a rock crawler or just a capable four wheeler? The rear locker (ARB is popular) may be all you ever need in 4WD.

Your gears are fine if you are going to maintain the same tire. David is correct on the ARB.
Look into a rear locker and you should be good to go.
Keep in mind recovery gear is an essential investment. Always know your limits and if in unfamiliar territory, wheel with a friend.

Check out Bill Burke's website. He teaches offroad and recovery techniques. Specifically, his video called "Getting Unstuck". It walks you through the basics of recovery gear and how to use it.

Otherwise, YouTube is your friend and many videos about recovery can be found.
