Alright guys so I'm selling my 63 Ford F100 and I should be getting around 2500 to 3000 for it. What should I do to my tacoma? Currently I have the Icon Stage 1 suspension on it. I was thinking a new front bumper with a winch? Let me know what you guys think!

Is it paid off yet? If not - use the money to pay down your loan.

My parents are seriously the best and expect nothing from me. They have provided so much and I'm thankful I have tried to pay them back but they wont accept anything. I originally got the 63 ford because I traded my streetbike for it. When they heard this they were thrilled and now that I'm selling it I offered to give them money for it but they said I can keep it as long as I don't get another streetbike. So in my opinion I had my 3k worth of fun on both of my streetbikes and I'm looking to put this money into my truck so I can show my parents a good time out on some trails as well as my friends. Any ideas guys?

Skid plates and rock sliders to protect the truck. Then get the front and rear bumpers.

So, for this to take a serious turn, you need to tell us how you plan to use your truck, and how it currently falls short of your vision for it. Also, what have you done to it so far?

There's twenty-gazillion possible ways to modify a truck and they're all a waste of time and money - unless they achieve some specific goal for the owner.

From your follow on post - it sounds like you want to focus on off-roading improvements. The basic "improve it for offroading" modification is a basic 3" suspension lift, 33" tires, and sliders, plus a bit of recovery gear to keep in the back. Wheels and tires being expensive - you could easily spend $3K just doing that; let alone blowing money on that spendy Icon bling. ;)

Also, I've observed over time that things for sale often don't bring as much cash as the owner had originally hoped. So before you go too far down this planning path - you may want to complete the sale of your F100 and see how many Ben Franklins you actually get.

I have already been offered 2500 for it. As for what I'm looking to get out of the truck I really want to get into trail driving. This is my daily driver so I'm not looking to set it up just for that. At first I wanted a prerunner but now I'm over that phase. I currently got the icon lift mickey Thompson wheels and 275 tires on it. I'm thinking about a new bumper that has a skid plate on it and maybe a winch. I'm not quite sure what to do but you guys can throw ideas out there if you got any!

Sliders are more important than front bumper.

Rear high clearance bumper next. On tough trails, you're always slamming the trailer hitch and exhaust pipe into the rear passenger quarter panel.

After that, full skids to protect the underbelly.

You really only need a winch if you go out on your own. If you go with a group, most recoveries are accomplished with a strap and a tug - and if a winch is really needed, usually someone in the group will have one.

That would be a start. What do you have back there now?

I got the stock leafs back there now with an inch block to level it out. I also got the icon struts back there too. When I put my camper on it tends to bottom out pretty easily. I read that these leafs will add 2.5 inches but I read sometimes they fully extend the struts in the rear.

Then, yeah, a rear replacement leaf pack would be a good bang-for-buck improvement for you. Some folks like the OME pack, some folks like the All Pro expedition pack.

The OME rear shocks aren't really any longer than stock length shocks, and ICON builds pretty heavy duty stuff, so I don't expect you'd have any problems there. You could check with Icon to be sure.

Thank you so much for all your input! Do you have any recommendations for front and rear bumpers?

You're IN Reno. You ought to talk to Eric at Relentless Fabrication - he's local to you. He does beautiful work. You need to be prepared to wait a LONG time to get it though.

Do you have TRD off road - and already have locking rear differential?

The other critical off-road piece our tacomas need for more hard-core off roading is the locking rear differential.

    Hmmmm.

In that case, I might re-evaluate my priorities for off-road based modifications if I were in your shoes.

    I might go:

    1. sliders
    2. leaf pack
    3. rear ARB locking differential
    4. high clearance rear bumper
    5. full skid plates
    6. front bumper and winch

Your money, your truck, your priorities.
