I get that, however you can update the 'My Toyota' App with anything which is done to the truck by you, the dealer or whoever. That's what I do. For me, my time is worth more than the morning I would loose sitting at my local dealer getting a 'free' service which I do myself on my other vehicles.

    Enjoy the free Coffee!

Well everything went fine. Only took an hour and a half. The guy even replaced the air filter and cabin filter for free because he felt he made me wait to long. Good people at that dealership.

My last service got me a free screw in one of my tires, un-mistakeable tick tick tick as I drove away, flipped a u-turn and went back to the service area and made them pull the screw, lucky for them is was just superficial, no leak.

The My Toyota app is a great tool to keep track of non dealer servicing. The app lets you combine self reporting svc done, along with any dealer reported work. So you can build a complete service history of your truck yourself .

That’s what I use. For me, time is money, plus I find turning wrenches to be relaxing. To each their own.

I tried that app and couldn't get it to work. I set up an account .. Tied it to my Google/gmail ... Using the same user name and password ... And when I went to log in, it kept going back to the 'new user - set up an account' page. I just gave up after awhile..

Mostly 340,000 miles of wear on the '96. A sharp looking Gasshole for the '21
At 5K I told the intake person why I was there and said I wanted an oil change too, she gave me a hard look and said that a 5K oil change might invalidate my warranty. Seriously, you can't make that kind of thing up. So I expressed a desire to speak to a manager and got another hard look. So since you skipped 5K visit you might get a big ole jar or hard looks.

When I went in yesterday, the guy at the counter, looking at his computer asked me 'Is the your first time here? I don't see anything for your 5K service..' I told him that since I knew all they were going to do was rotate the tires and fill up the washer fluid, I just did that myself. He just shrugged his shoulders and said 'OK.. Not a prob'... I didn't tell them I had already changed oil/filter before that (I'm still old school on engine break-in and an early oil/filter change) and since I used a Toyota oil filter, they'd never know.

Realistically, what you can really expect at any stealer OCI visit is an over-tighten oil filter cap, overfilled/under-filled oil crankcase, over-tighten wheel lugs, warped rotors, scratches, nicks or maybe even a dent or two on your new vehicle.

And now this begs for the $64k dollar question to be asked: Why would anyone bring their vehicles in for that?

    But the answer is simple:
    Because it’s (stated as) free!

I think the most important service is the first 8,000 km. This is when they go over the whole vehicle and check everything under the sun to make sure there are any issues with the truck. After that I would find a local mechanic shop that you can trust to do the maintenance on it. He can download the maintenance schedules and know what needs to be done. Only go back to dealership if under warranty repairs other than that keep away from them lol.

If the stealer is checking the vehicles at the (free) service, then the $64k question is:
How do/did they miss all those leaking rear diffs??

Ya know, just to be fair ... And I paid close attention... The guy who did my servicing, who I could watch from the waiting room .. Was some guy in his mid 40's. So I was relived to see it wasn't some kid who was too stupid to work at McDonald's. When he came to me with how dirty the air and cabin filters were (Very rural here... Lot's of dirt road driving) and he showed them to me .. Yeah they were pretty dirty.... That showed me something about the guys at that dealership. He could have said nothing and just checked the box off as 'inspected'. Since these were not covered under the standard warranty. I didn't feel as he was just trying to up-sale me as.. They were pretty dirty.
I just told him, 'go ahead' ...Save me a trip to the auto parts store...
When I was signing the paper work, I told him 'Well I guess I owe ya a few bucks for the filters..' and he said 'On the house' .. Because he felt he made me wait too long. It was an hour and a half, which I felt was perfectly reasonable. But I sure as shit wasn't gonna gonna look a gift horse in the mouth.
I guess some Toyota dealers are like any other business. You got good ones and bad ones.

I’m glad you had a good experience. Myself, I wouldn’t have wasted the time driving 1.5 hours each way (I think that’s what you said it was going to take for you to get there) plus waiting an 1.5 hours for the Service. I’m glad you got something free out of it for your time
