My angle is slightly different. I would have actually enjoyed the 1.5 hr. drive each way. Not only would it be quality time in my truck, but it also gives me a chance to really pay attention to the vehicle, both pre-service and post-service. So what I would get out of it is "peace of mind" .. which is hard to put a price tag on sometimes. So free is good!

Mine involved an oil change, the service advisor who SWORE it was washed when I could write my name in the dirt on the door, and a prolonged argument asking them to disable the seatbelt chime that drives me crazy when I am picking up stuff on the property and am constantly in and out of the truck.

It would literally be faster and easier if I just did it all myself, which is what I should have done in less time than it takes driving to the dealership.

Well, I'm rural. And I mean 'middle-of-nowhere' rural. Seeing moose, elk, bears in 'The Front Yard' is pretty common... Everything is far away. Even the nearest grocery store (mom n' pop) is 20 miles each way.
I'm retired, so time is not that big a factor. I've really got nowhere I need to be and all day to get there .. LOL!
And also give me a chance to stop at WallyWorld if need be... Sooooo .... Eh, not that big of a deal.

Yeah, my drive is a nice drive through the forest. Watching out for deer is the biggest concern. I just take it easy... Listen to some downloaded podcasts I enjoy .. Enjoy some beautiful scenery ... Usually next to no traffic at all ... It's enjoyable.

I havent bought one, but I've seen little plastic doo-hickeys you plug into the buckle of the seat belt that mimics the belt being plugged in and stops the ding-ding. I think they were only about $10.00 or close.
I didn't get a car wash, but didn't really care. Rather do it myself.. I'm pretty persnickety about getting ALL the bug-splats off the front of everything.. :D

Yeah the Toyota app is pretty good.
I used the Carfax app with my previous vehicle and started with this one too. The one thing that I didn't like about Carfax is that when I sold the jeep and took it off my account they deleted all the owner entered service records. There was no options to maybe save it for a new owner. Not sure how Toyota deals with that.

Oh man that sounds like my dream retirement cabin. I sure wouldn't complain about any of that.

Oh, I'M not complaining at all. I chose this kind of life/isolation 20+ years ago. It does come at a certain cost though. As in Everything Is Far Away.
Spend a lot in gas $$ and miles .. On the other hand .. I see bears in the front yard. And I never lock the doors on the house, leave my keys in the truck unlocked and my dogs get to run freely thru the woods.

    I'm
I'm not sure id like being that far remote but definitely where you can't see or hear your neighbor. Civilization is nice but so is solitude and nature.

To be fair to some dealerships, complaints about wait time is more about current volume and staffing. If one goes in and there is 15 in front of you, I don't think a wait time of 1.5 hrs is unreasonable. Unless you are expecting the kid to drop the oil, not change the filter and then take a impact to start and tighten the drain plug then forget the inspection along with dumping oil all over the place. Our dealership has only 3 oil change bays and they won't have a higher level tech do the service unless warranty issues are addressed. 8 yrs ago I knew a guy at the the Chevy dealership that claimed he could do a 5 minute oil change including raising it, r&r filter, drop and fill oil out the door, no fluid check. Oil plug out for the count of 5 and back in.

It's one of those 'Different Strokes For Different Folks' things ...
My oldest son (32) would love to be even more 'remote' than I do. He's in escrow right now for 20 acres and a 2 bdrm house. My youngest son (30) .. if he's not in the middle of Big City Lights, he'd be miserable.. I sometimes wonder how both my sons are polar-opposites.
Ehh, what makes the world go around I guess ..;)

I'm glad you enjoy that, I'm working hard to be able to afford that lifestyle someday too; I work in emergency response for a large utility, get paid by the hour and frequently get called-in after hours, thus my comment "Time is money" It literally is for me. One weekend a month and a couple of weeks a year I spend in remote places all over rural portions of the Southwest. It's nice to get away, although when my GF needs some Tums at 1am it's also nice being 5 mins from an all-night grocery store too LOL!
