This. Insurance is really a big scam if you think about it. Rates raise every year regardless if you use it or not. And no one actually wants to have to use it.

Get a used hood or an aftermarket new hood, with paint... said and done $500-$600 max. There more labor cost involved in trying to repair the old hood.

I'm a licensed adjuster and agent, i dont recommend making a claim. That would fall under your collision coverage and the deductible is usually about $500. With one exception, if the debris flew off the truck and hit your truck AND NEVER TOUCHED THE GROUND OR BOUNCED OFF OF SOMETHING then it would be covered under your comprehensive coverage and the deductible is usually alot lower, $100-$250.But call your agent first and find out what your deductibles are. So if it bounced off the road... after deductible you may save a couple hundred bux, BUT the insurance premium increase over the next 3 years will be well over that couple hundred dollars you saved on the repairs. UNLESS you have one time minor accident forgiveness on your policy, then your premium would not be affected as long as you do not switch companies for at least 3-5 years. If you switch, IT WILL make your premium higher. You have to ask your agent about that, lol, dont worry, just calling and asking won't make your rate increase! You would be surprised how many people think it does :)

If it did not bounce off the road, if your deductible is low, filing a comp. claim may not be a horrible idea. Also comp. claims are not held against you as for as rating the premium :)

    Hope that helps some.

Mine doesn't. It has been in a downward spiral for years. Then again I have no accidents, tickets and quite a bit older than a lot you guys.

Be aware, over 65 yrs old rates start creeping up... lol, insuring an 85 year old is sometimes the same as insuring you highschool kid!

I was referring to all types of insurance. Health, car, home, etc. it really is one big legal ponzi scheme

Wait till you get your health insurance renewal bill for 2017! Obama really #!?&%#'d us with Obamacare! Average increase will be 30%-40% if your in tip top shape and about 20-45 years old. 45-64... so far i have seen between 40% all the way up to 150% increase! Across the board (make sure you read your 2017 policy and the changes in your deductibles! before agreeing to renew!) I have seen 200%-600% increase in deductibles in about 90% of personal health insurance policies, and about 70% of policies offered through your employer. I just got my renewal... +37%! Obamacare has put almost all health insurance companies out of business, the remaining companies are hundreds of millions of dollars in the red and in 2017 the federal goverment stops subsidizing the companies losses... so guess who now foots the bill for Obamacare.. You, me, and all the other hard working folks in this country. Low income folks will not see a change, 65+ will not see a change, just us :( Hope your in good health brother! :)

Sorry for the long post, but your health is the most important thing you have.
Just some FYI for you guys :)

I'd do this besides all the extras, I'd just add a big reflector. Or buy a used hood. There was a guy on here Selling one for $100

Brilliant. Like a solid chrome bug deflector. It'll go good with the chrome grill.

My rates have gone up every renewal period for the last 2 years and both my trucks get older. I also turned 25, I should have seen a decrease. Its BS, but I guess it is what it is.

Thanks for all the info. I think I may go with the replacement hood. I didn't realize they were so inexpensive. $111.00 on carparts.com. The paint is going to be a different story. I'll have to ask around the neighborhood a little more. Thanks guys.

I haven't had a claim or accident in 22 years and my truck gets older, my credit score is perfect, yet my rates go up every year. I'm always jumping from insurance company to insurance company when the rates get up too high..... hence : scam
