    Hi all

In the next few days I will be looking to purchase a new 2017 Tacoma TRD. I have searched on the site and have noticed that I should have them check the transmission fluid by eye.

is there anything else i should have them do.

    Thanks for your time
    Glen

    Maybe check transmission fluid.
I'm not sure if that is still a problem.

It is unlawful for a dealer to deliver a vehicle with an open recall.

You won't be able to take delivery of the vehicle until this is done.

Can't really have them do anything.

Any existing TSBs aren't mandatory service checks, and only are approved for work orders with an existing issue. Like, your tranny is sloppy and you bring it in for diagnosis and they perform the tranny TSB. They won't perform the TSB just because you ask, you have to meet the criteria for the diagnostic work order.

Anything they opt to do is purely customer relations, so make sure you thank them accordingly. That'd be doing you a favor and not following Toyota's guidelines of service.

    No laws against asking.

But TSBs aren't recalls. He can ask for TSBs to be completed, but unless his truck is exhibiting the issues the TSBs cover, they aren't automatically performed - requested or not. Nobody is paying for the TSBs to be done for shits and giggled. Toyota only pays for them when they're necessary and meet qualifications for repair.

    Toyota's rules, not my rules.

Leaks are different than erratic shifting or whatever other TSBs exist.

That's a visible issue, unlike the bulk of the others that aren't.

Hate to be that guy, but I told my dealer to inspect tranny fluid, diff fluid, before pick up. Diff was low (maybe due to the slow leak) and tranny was low.

Moral of the story is that you can ask, but they know they're selling you the truck regardless of if they do the work.

The only thing I asked the salesman as I was signing all the papers was that they not wash mine as I was going to hand wash it.
However as it turned out, they had washed it as soon I we got back from the test drive.
    Bummer!
But after 21k miles It's been a great ride, no worries here!

And all the sales guy could say to me was, I'm sorry I didn't know, but it was a touchless wash??
