I say take the $8k, pay cash for the nicest Camry you can find and save your pennies. $8k buys you a decent used car.

    Haha!

Actually that little guy was great. He got it in 95 i believe, and i dont remember my dad having any issues with it. The only thing, the exhaust rusted off one time but thats about it.

He let me drive it on his lap, had some fun times in that thing.

I'd love to get one to lift as a project. Could be a really cool rig!

Yes exactly I plan to keep it for as long as I can. And I would take the smart choice of getting something cheaper but I know eventually I will end up in this same situation and lose more money when I could have already been paying off the vehicle I do want.

Yea I looked at the cars 8k can afford me and I dont like them much. I have a feeling I will always end up in this situation of wanting a newer Tacoma if I went with buying something I dont want.

What kind of delivering? Having to keep a 2nd job to pay for a tacoma while putting a lot of miles on the tacoma seems kind of foolish.

I only work like 2 or 3 days a week for the second job its more like free time being paid. And its cookie delivery and company cars are available. I would only use my own if they are all taken up but many of my coworkers use their own.

I tend to agree with you. Quick glance of Camrys in that price range and we are looking at 8 to 10 years old and easily 100K miles. In the same 10 year period you would own the Tacoma you would probably need two of those $8K cars. :). (NOTE: Keep in mind that is a quick look at cars in the greater NY area; your area may be much different).

Question for you ... have you started looking and pricing Tacomas enough to know exactly what it will cost you? Are you looking at new, CPO, 1 or 2 year old (under warranty)? Might be a good idea to firm up that price so that you have real numbers to do the comparison.

Personally, I think the smarter play is the long term vehicle, with warranty, no reliability headaches, comfort and updated technology and safety features. Over a 10 to 15 year period that is a sound financial play, all things considered.

Yea right now I been talking to several dealerships. I'm thinking of taking the plunge and getting a new one new new. And so far this salesman is discussing with me thru email he can get me one for 36k.

Its a long story. Bought it in 2017 it kept failing inspections due to two codes and after replacing the catalytic converters the issue still didn't go away. It was constantly having to try to find what it was. It had paint issues when I bought it got someone to paint It and then the hood started peeling. I ended up finding out recently thru carfax it had a moderate accident and the mileage had been tampered with. Still loved the truck but those things just starting bothering me and I been wanting something thats newer anyways.
