That thing is not only already off the grid, it’s also off the rails!

good luck in your search, also looking for used isnt a bad option either, but financing a new car may be better 1.9% apr on 34k isnt bad.. just be sure you get what you want, don't settle for something without the option you wanted, you'll regret it later. I took my TRD OR for a spin from the dealer, first v6 i've owned, and first truck.. was impressed with drive quality seating, interior (albeit it's plastic), legendary reliability, and all the aftermarket support.. I knew this truck was for me... and be prepared to drop as much on downpayment as you can.. it knocks down that payment number quite a bit.. splitting payments works well too to payoff early.. I get paid bi-weekly, and I pay half my truck payment on my payday, means i make 26 payments a year, but in reality it's 13 complete payments.. call the bank at end of year, and have additional payment made towards the principle on the loan.. payment will go down every year.. and if you find you have extra money some months, or get a big check (large tax return).. flush it to the principal on your loan.. and be done with payments in half the time. payments recalculate yearly. quicker that priciple drope.. the lower your payment will be..

if I was a stickler I would do this for my mortgage too.. I can cut 7 years off my 30 year mortgage using that trick.. as long as there are no early payback penalties (most dont).

I want to thank everyone for all the advice and most of all thank everyone for not saying "buy an SR and build it". Lol. I've spent countless hours reading post on that topic before I joined and for god's sake, it's taken me a month to decide on short or long bed. The only thing I wish the OR had was the 1" lift and rims from the PRO. Maybe to hood. This is gonna he an adventure.

I'd hold out for the Sport Chacoma. That thing would be awesome with a scoop!

Being more serious though: IMO, TRD Off-Road offers the sweet spot in the Tacoma lineup, in terms of looks, capability and price.

OP: if you haven't already, this is what I normally do:
    • Check online reviews and comparisons
    • Read enthusiasts forums
    In terms of price shopping:
    • Go on Cargurus, Cars.com and Autotrader, and draw a 500-mile search around your ZIP code to check how much trucks similar to the one you want are being advertised for. There will always be a dealer willing to let some units go and will reveal his "lowest price." That will give you a sense how low other dealers are willing to go.
    • Kelly Blue Book was off by a LOT when I bought my truck; I wouldn't waste my time with them.
    • If you belong to a credit union and use their auto buying service some of them will offer you a lower interest rate. Granted, Toyota is offering sweet rates on Tacoma at the moment.

Good luck...and don't forget to smile!
