I have a '16 SR AC 2.7 Manual 4x4 on order to be built. Hopefully it'll be here within 2 months. What should the dealership do when the truck comes in/what should I ask them to do? This is my first new vehicle and first vehicle from a dealership. Thanks.

Would you be more specific on what you mean by "what should the dealership do"? If you already struck a deal on the truck then likely that is all the dealer will be inclined to do when it arrives.

Uh. They should probably call you and tell you it's ready to be picked up. PDI, Fill it with gas and wash it (hopefully without scratching it?)

    What else would they do?

They will keep you there to sign papers, try to sell you on a zillion things, show you the truck's features, and you should ask them for the keys and drive away.

Make sure they scratch the rust off the rotors and exhaust.

Make sure you get all of your books, keys, subscriptions, warranty info, and everything out of your trade. If the adjustable d-rings for the bed are supposed to come with it, make sure you get them. Basically, do an inventory walk-through with the delivery team and don't let them rush you out the door.

They should check for vibration on gear shifter, check for rust on the rotors and exhaust, make sure the dipstick is not stuck, double check the ¨orange peel¨ on the lower panels, look for water in the license plate lights, and check the bed alignment. Tell them you saw this on TW, they will understand.

Don´t take that seriosly OP, that was just a little TW humor. For real though, they will do a PDI which will include a safety check, such as all your lights working, tire pressures and such. They will check your fluids. I advise test drive before signing any final papers. They will also wash it and put some gas in it, hopefully a full tank. All this will be taking place while you are signing about 50 different documents. They will then ask if you want extended warranty, gap insurance, tire protection and some other stuff. Its up to you if you want that, and most of the time those cost are also negotiable. It can be overwhelming buying from a dealer the first time, Do not let them know this is your first time. Good luck and congrats on the truck.

I would decline the extended warranty initially unless you have shopped around prior and decide its worth it and are comfortable negotiating it.

Make sure they include the separate tail gate key (you only get one)

They've switched to no separate key now. My ignition key locks/unlocks the tailgate.

Op is getting a SR, it will not have a separate tailgate key.

Did you negotiate a price before you pre-ordered? I saw quite a few people here put a preorder with $500 down who planned on negotiating the price one the truck showed up.
