What size/type of power inverter should I get for my Tacoma? I want to use it to power things like a cellphone or a lap top.

I don’t know much about wattage or voltage so I don’t know what might be too much or not enough.

I know my truck has the 100/400 watt outlet in the bed, but I’m not sure what those numbers mean. Also I know that the cigarette outlet in the cab states 120 watts, but don’t know what that means either.

Would you guys be able to make some recommendations?

the 100/400 watt inverter should run things like battery chargers for power tools, some AC powered lamps and POSSIBLY a small air pump.

If you are looking to power more higher-amp items, I've been able to power shop vacs and heat guns with a 800w inverter. The 2,000w is capable of powering a small electric pressure washer from experience.

    Hey PSU Taco85:

Would you be able to provide any instructions for tapping into the stock inverter? Or is it pretty simple?

Please see Section 7.9 in the Car and Deep Cycle Battery FAQ for more information on inverter and battery sizing.
