I'm a brand new 2nd gen Tacoma owner and im planning on putting a little 3in lift on it. Any suggestions what rim/tire size would look good? Planning on taking it off-roading and camping but i've done any car mods before.

I prefer more tire, less wheel. 16" is the smallest wheel that fits on gen 2. 265/75 is the easiest, most versatile choice - and looks damn good. 255/85 is next. Go to 285 if you don't mind rubbing, or cutting parts off your truck.

I'd keep the wheels that came on the truck. If the wheels are 16", then 265/75/16 tires. If the wheels are 17" then 265/70/17. Both of those sizes are virtually the same overall width and height and are as big as you can go without other more expensive modifications. In fact they will fit without the lift. Buy the tires first, you may decide you don't need the lift. Spend that money for gas.

And rethink the 3" lift if it's 4wd.

Over 2-2.5" you start increasing the risk of introducing secondary wear issues.

If it's a pre runner, call Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road and ask for the @ChadsPride special.

If it's 4wd, call her anyway, with how you are using the truck, your goals for ride/behavior and a budget. Then install what she ships you.

If your budget is low, save up more and do it correctly the first time.
