I run General AtricMax 265/75-16s, studded on all 4 corners. They perform well on ice and hard pack, not fantastic in deep fluffy snow. I think it has more to do with the oversized tire vs the tread as my wife's suby runs the exact same tire (studded) but 'minus' sized and they are awesome all around.

Got Yokohama iceGuard IG51V last fall, they perform very well in all conditions I faced. I live in southwest Ontario.

I ran studded Ipike, I wouldn't run anything but a true standard load winter tire in a snow area.

I debated on winter tires for my new vehicle, since they come with summer tires stock. It was down to the Nokian hakkapelittias, and the blizzaks. Prices were almost the same. In the end I chose the blizzaks, just because they seem to be the standard when talk of winter tires comes up. If I'm not impressed, I'll try the Nokians out. I figure a Finnish company that specializes in winter driving probably knows their stuff.

I've been running on BFG Winter Slaloms I bought used on CL. They have been pretty good in the slushy wet snow and ice in the city and have done well in the deeper dry snow on trips up the Coq.
I have KO2s now but will swap on the snows in another month or two. With the KO2s I figure there is less urgency.

I ran Nokians on my Civic before entering the truck world.. They are amazing. I'd say the best snows I've ever had. well worth the price.

Ran these on my 4runner last winter. 235/85r16 Winterforce LT 10-plys. I put about 10-15k on them but can barely detect any wear. The e-rated tires just seem to wear like iron. Not the most sophisticated snow tire out there but I've had them on a few different vehicles and they always get the job done. I don't think I really needed to shift into 4X4 unless I was on a trail or trying to get stuck parking in snowbanks and felt pretty good in rainy slushy stuff. I'm kinda wishing i had studded them now that I'm in a Pre-runner, but i think they'll be ok. Only downside is they made my 4runner ride like a tractor, but there's always a tradeoff I guess.

They get worse below zero. I think they get harder?

For 100 more you can have blizzak dm-v2's which are the top rated tires on tire rack. Tire rack rating are generally pretty on point. I love ko2's (as do many many other people) and it is number 1 in its category. I feel like I need something really spectacular to make having a second set make sense with the ko2's anyways.

I live in Utah snow country and drive up canyons to a ski resort for work. It is pretty much general consensus round here that Blizzacks are the best snow tires made. But then I currently run Big O Bigfoot AT's and they are not so good...too hard when it gets really cold. They're great in summer 4 wheeling in southern Utah. My long term (budget) goal is to get new custom 17" rims for summer tires and use the stock 16" rims for winter and go with Blizzacks then.

Goodyear Duratracs! Frequent trips off road in the Sierra Nevada's of Northern California. I ditched the BFG KO 1's with 12/32" left on them for the GY's. Best decision I made.

Winterforce LT's, Dealer threw these in. Directional winter tire that perform better than any AT tire I am sure. If you live in areas where the daytime highs are usually below freezing, I would consider studding. They can be a bit spiny at stop and go intersections when the temps are way down. A little weight in the back end would help this also.

If I was buying, I would probably lean towards Cooper Discoverer M+S. I have these on plow truck and wife's SUV. Great tire for the price.

I just ordered a set of Blizzak DM V2's . Going on a set of dedicated steel rims.

Question, can the steel wheels use the same wheel nuts as the stock aluminum wheels?

I've got Hankooks on 2G TRD OR wheels right now. They were my winter set from my 2G. I'll probably swap my 3G OR wheels onto them when I get my TRD wheels on.

I've had zero issues with them, and I've had much less ABS engagement than say when I had the KOs on my old truck (haven't put KOs on the new one yet). They aren't a panacea in that I still rely on 4WD for traction if I don't feel like abusing the skinny pedal to go where I need to go, but once I flip the switch into 4WD it's like the ground goes to bare dry pavement.

I have zero complaints, but I may investigate other brands when the time comes to replace these. I'm also tempted to go to a 245 series tire or even a 235 depending on what's available.

Selfishly I do wish they made a dedicated snow tire with white letters.
