Dish soap will do a number to any protection you use on your truck, FYI.

Dish soap is great for lifting dirt and contaminants but it also removes most waxes. What are you Dove washers doing about that aspect of finish protection?

Dish soap is the last thing you should be washing with.

It's a foaming soap applicator . It's not hitting your truck with much pressure. No worries about paint damage from pressure.

I just want a clean truck so I can apply a clean coat of wax when I'm done.

I could give 2 shits about the pH of the soap being used.

All soap has a high pH. Dirt in general is a lower pH. Soap cleans dirt because it neutralizes the chemical attraction of the dirt to your truck.

I don't get worked up if my higher pH soap is stripping the wax off. It's getting another coat anyways.

Chemistry 101. Higher pH materials do not attack iron, only acids, or lower pH materials. High pH materials don't attack plastic(paint). If they did, how can Draino be sold in a plastic jug?

Here in Michigan, I want the highest pH soap I can find. I need to spray down my truck just to neutralize all the salt grime it comes in contact with. Both under and on the truck.

I'm sure I don't have to remind most here, but our Toyota factory paint is really not that great.

Wash it and wax it is about the best we can do.

If anyone cares, I've been using concentrated Dawn dish soap in my pressure washer foam cannon for years.

In most cases, sunlight is breaking down your wax faster than the soap you use.

I'm sure I'll get all sorts of disagreement here, but I just know basic chemistry. It's worked good for me for years.

    YMMV

Exactly what is used for completely stripping everything from an automotive finish as well as used in a high concentration for lubricity during a clay bar process! :D

You need a new lesson in chemistry. Wax is dead by the way. Ceramic is here to stay

Meguiars gold class, can get giant bottles online for dirt cheap that will last forever. This is the first vehicle I ever had professionally ceramic coated as soon as I bought it and I try to wash bi-weekly but sometimes once in a month if I’m too busy. Get it professionally detailed inside and out once a year.

Do NOT wash your truck with dish soap unless you’re purposely trying to strip off any protective coating you had applied such as wax. Not understanding how people are actually washing with dish soap regularly without reapplying a protective coating after every wash and expecting their paint to not suffer UV damage. Only time I’ve ever used dish soap is when I was doing a serious detail to my vehicle including Iron X and clay bar’ing followed by polishing and a type of protective coating.

I wash my truck about 6-8 times a year and I put on wax after. I figure the paint will out last me.

2017, out in the desert, sure it is dirty like always but I don't think the Blue Dawn has harmed the paint in any way.

I use a lot of Adams products. Love the foam, buttery smooth and goes on thick. Like shaving cream. The car shampoo works pretty good as well but not as impressive as the mega foam.

Big fan of the Adam's stuff as well. Ultra Foam and Mega Foam are both great.
