Level with an untouched OE rear is still just as functional as Toyota intended. Just like it would be with a level truck and aftermarket leafs. No one is taking leafs out and destroying the load rating. It will just be slightly lower in the rear when loaded. Nothing to do with function. Only looks.

It's not the load rating that makes it less functional. When it is level unloaded the you put a load in it, the headlights will be pointing higher and blinding folks. With a slight rake you will be level when loaded.

    Wut.

Headlights have nothing to do with this.

You are telling me your headlights magically stay at the same level when you load your raked truck? No. They don't.

Most people adjust their headlights when they lift their trucks. This takes the loaded/unloaded blinding people out of the game.

A level loaded truck with adjusted headlights will not blind anyone any more than a loaded raked truck.

Yeah I see what you are saying. Guess I had a derp moment. Not that this means anything but a few of the more well known members on here are always posting about functionality with a slight rake as opposed to the leveled look. I'm not arguing with you but I wonder what they are talking about?

For the sake of simplicity, let's talk about a stock 2nd Gen (raked) and a ~2" front lift with stock rear leafs on a 2nd Gen (level).

In their raked truck, when they put a load in it, they want the truck to sit level. They don't want the rear to be lower than the front giving the impression that their truck is overloaded.

In a level truck, when you put a load in, the rear suspension sags like the raked truck. But, it gives the impression that the truck is overloaded because the rear is lower than the front. It's not overloaded. The load rating (payload) hasn't changed because the leafs are the same.

    Same functionality, subjective looks.

Yeah I get that. Maybe when everyone is saying function they are just referring to the truck being nose high as opposed to level when loaded as a safety issue. Me personally I hate driving a nose high truck. That may or may not be a safety issue. I could say it was because I can see less of the road in front of me but that small amount probably doesn't matter. Again I'm not arguing the fact with you but just wondering why people are saying a rake=function. Maybe someone will chime in with some info.

No worries. I didn't mean to sound like I was arguing. I was rushing to get some work done and posting at the same time.
