Toyota is the quintessential compact pick up. Whether it's lifted, stock, or lowered it's hard to find one you don't like.

A 96' was my first car. My parents asked what I wanted and I said a manual truck. Got it from an older marine and loved it. Only reason I don't have it anymore was that it was totaled in 2012 when she took a nasty hit as an innocent bystander in a police chase. Fast forward 6 years and 2 more cars, I now have a 3rd gen that I love just as much. I wish I remembered my old TW account information as I made a new one when I got the 3rd gen.

Realllllllly miss the gen 1 ebrake though. Pulling and twisting will be something I never forget.

The interior, durability and resale actually. I hate a cheap and bad looking dash and interior. Knew after my second deployment I could buy any truck I wanted. Before I left, I test drove and looked at a Colorado, Tacoma and Dakota. No other mid sized interested me. Over the next year I researched reviews and resale values of the Tacoma. Between all three of the factors above, I was sold. Got home on August of 07’ and told the dealership I wanted an 08’ silver sport or red OR. The off-road won. Loved the truck since day one of owning it. It’s gone from WA to NJ to HI and back to MT. After 117k miles the only problem I ever had was when I wreaked it this fall. Slick roads and a sudden stop in front of me put the ol girl to rest. Replaced it with a 19’ cement DC OR last week.

Yes! Love that 1st Gen e-brake. I can still picture the puzzled looks by first time passengers when you rip the e-brake handle before getting out.

I love all Tacomas but I am partial to first gens they just have a look that is unmatched and very tough durable and reliable a beast so to speak I am also stuck on the classic 70 s and 80 s Toyota trucks I guess what started my love for these trucks is when I restored one to it's former glory and saw how awesome it looked a labor of love for sure my former 96 is a beautiful original Tacoma I was lucky to find it in such great condition had my 99 17 yrs sold to neighbor he loves it great truck also

My love of toyota trucks started in 1978 when my aunts boyfriend at the time showed up in a brand new green standard cab sr5 pickup . Then my best friend in high school bought a brand new 82 long bed after he joined the navy , I drove it a bunch of times and I was hoooked . I still have my 1985 turbo sr5 xtra cab in the garage (original motor and trans!)parked next to my 18 sr5 , in between I’ve had a total of 5 Tacoma’s two tundras and 3 4runners . For me Its an obsession lol ! D80AB838-0AE2-4902-BC10-CD25EC5D98FB.jpg921967A4-0C8B-41A0-AC0B-EAF7F6DDA082.jpg

Not sure what the Toyota trucks were called back in the mid 80's when I was in High School, but that's when I first noticed them. It wasn't until 2002 when I got my first Gen 1 Tacoma after driving Ford trucks until that point. On my 3rd Taco now and love it!

Spent my early 20's 4-wheeling all over the state of Colorado in my 1985 Toyota Xtra-Cab (Yes, the back to the Future truck, except mine was white, LOL), and it never let me down.
I took that thing places you would not imagine, bone stock (except the 31" BFG all-terrains).
Then a few years later, I inherited a '90 SR5 short-bed V6 and LOVED it but had to let it go (kids don't mix with a regular cab).
Lost my '88 4-runner (last year with a solid axle  ) in a divorce, and moved to Jeeps (cherokee, then 2 different Grand Cherokees), but always missed my Toyotas.
After the last Jeep died a slow electronic death just over 100k (as had the previous 2) I bought my first ever new vehicle, my 2017 Tacoma TRD Sport, and could not be happier.

    I've always have liked Toyota 4x4 p/ups !!!

I bought a 1982 Toyota SR5 long bed 4x4 back in 1984 with 10k miles on it . Within a few weeks it had a 12" lift with 3" body lift running 14 shocks and riding on 40" Dick Cepek Fun Country tires !!!

Seeing this sitting on the showroom floor is all it took. We have owed 3 now, one from each generation. AB039EC9-7714-44E6-989F-4822A329805F.jpg

Because the first generations proven reliability. My grandfather drove me ‘round in one, and his best advice was to always have one around. I’ve had one ever since. 95, 01, 17. I’ve driven hilux, I’ll take a Tacoma any day of the week. Solid platform to build on as well.

We we're looking for a new car for my wife. The Rav4 was perfect for what she needed/wanted. In 2015 we went to go get her the new car. She wasn't really sure what color she wanted, so was going to go for the Gray. We got there and all they had was a white and black, none of what she would consider, and they had this orange one( Hot Lava). She immediately said that's the one.
So, once we saw that Inferno was going to be a color on the 3rd gen Tacoma I was told I had to get it. Of course, as life would have it, some other things got in the way of that, until October of this year, which Inferno became hard to find due to its cancellation. I thought I was going to end up getting a Cement Tacoma instead, which the wife likes also. Well, one of the dealers near here got an Inferno Sport as a dealer swap. I jumped on it and I have a special appreciation for this truck, like it was meant to be.
