In '88, had started hanging wallpaper on the weekends to supplement my take home pay running a wholesale roofing company. I owned a really trick black '84 GTI at the time, but needed something beefier to haul my wallpaper table and five gallon buckets around in. I saw an '86 4Runner at a dealership, and on a whim bought it. My wife thought I was crazy, but she had just lost her company car, so the GTI became hers to drive. The 4R was a five speed manual, with hubs you had to get out and set by hand. GREAT vehicle!!! It died at about 300K miles and I considered re-building it as it was so bullet proof + a solid front axle. I bought a '92 4Runner, then a brand new '98 4Runner, then a '02 Tacoma, then a '06 Tacoma for my son, and a '07 for me that I still have. My new '19 TRD Sport has less than 500 miles on it, and I am getting ready for a 3" lift (Bilstein 8112s etc.) and wheels/tires. It's fun to have the dough now to just get it set up how I want it. I like the comment that these trucks are like Legos for grown-ups, although I'm not sure that I'll ever grow up.

My wife had a Rav4, a Sequoia, a brand new FJ Cruiser. We've had a Scion XC box and various used 2wd Toyota Tacomas for the boys.

    Complete Toyota family.

I worked as a mechanic for Toyota for 11 years and didn't see much issues and seen miles on it well over 200,000

Back To The Future! My dad bought a 1982 2wd SR5 new and back then I thought It was Just OK then I saw Back To The Future and that was the moment I fell for Toyota Trucks. MY dad sold his SR5 to my Uncle when it had 174000 miles on it. My uncle replaced the drivers side seat and drove it for several years. It never had a single problem. No rust problem, but it never left Oregon so it never saw salt. My uncle sold it to his neighbor and he drove it for several years also. I think the truck lasted about 25 years of constant use as a pickup, had over 250000 miles.

High-school buddy (mid '80's) had a red '81 4x4. That was really my first intro to Toyota and formed my view of what the perfect truck should be.

When they came out with the rear diff lock from the factory. Think it was the 1997. Bought my 01 because the double cab finally. Then just got my pro since its what I've wanted. Really like how Toyota keeps making them more appealing at least to me. The 2nd gens weren't for me but the look of the 3rd gens is awesome. 20180626_124935.jpg

SSO hybrid bumper, Warn winch, RCI skid trilogy, RRW sliders, everything in the cheap/free mods thread, and of course the frame recall work.
Top Gear. When they could not destroy that HiLux I knew that I had to have the closest I could get to it - the Tacoma.

My first truck was a 2000 Frontier, I was actually shopping for a Cherokee and spotted a four-door compact truck for the first time. I thought that the little Nissan was such a cool, unique concept that I impulse bought it on the spot, the dumbest, best financial mistake I ever made so far. A few months later, I was being recovered out of the mud by a Toyota. They were advertised at the time as having the highest clearance straight from the factory. Even a prerunner had a good 3-4 inches on my 4x4 Frontier. I knew then that a Taco would be in my eventual future.

Started with uncle's old T100 that he used for hunting. Truck was beat to hell but kept on going, I learned to drive in it. Then he had gotten a 2005 acsb trd sport and then I really got hooked. Always wanted one and finally after 2 chevy trucks, a Buick, a Mazda b series, and an F150 (which I currently still have) I was finally able to afford a Taco. Saw my 2010 sitting on the dealer lot and I just fell in love

Resale value and the fact that my 2007 RX 350 with 180,000 miles requires little maintenance.

I’ve owned Toyota trucks since 1977 but what started my lust of the Gen 3 Taco was the Toyota ad showing a bunch of twenty something’s racing across the desert throwing dust in the air, etc. I said to my self right then I had to have that truck!

As previously stated, the Tacoma looks the best out of all of the midsize pickups. I drive anywhere from 400-450 miles during the work week as well as take trips on the weekends fishing, camping, etc. I knew that a Tacoma could get me through the miles I wanted to drive without any issues. I’ve had my ‘17 Off-road for almost two years now and 45,000 miles later I have enjoyed every second of it.

The movie Back to the Future honestly. I was a wee lad at the time and very impressionable. My family also owned a repair shop and I was exposed to their bullet proof nature early on...it stuck. I had a 95 that I just sold that had over 400,000 miles on the original 2.7...and it was never opened up for anything.

Owned 2 toyota 22r pickups in 80s and 90s. Tercel as 1st car and 3rd or 4th. So yeah, im a toyota fan.

Come 2018 i needed a new vehichle. With a budget in my pocket, looked around and decided the taco is what i wanted. It wasnt love yet.. i just liked it better that anything else in that price bracket. Bought it, then fell in love with it. No regrets!

Don't own one, but as much as I love my Audi, need a little truck for work and play

Show me something new besides the Gladiator, Ram 2/3500 and the Dinosaur (Frontier) I could get loaded with Manual and 4x4 and I'll show you a green dog
