Well that was 2 1/2 years ago, but personally I would go with a reman Denso from a local mom and pop before going to the dealer.

I'd get an OEM. I have replaced mine twice. That "free warranty" from autozone doesn't include the time I spend laying on my back replacing it when I'd rather be doing something else.

Interesting, looks like all 2.7’s, 1st gen to 3rd gens use the same starter and is about $200 depending on dealer, for brand new OEM.

3rz to 2Rz bebuilt block and new heads
I would stay away from the reman ones.....even the napa....

    that leaves pretty much $200.....

IF you rebuild one yourself and do it perfect you can still expect it to last half as long as a new one....

    no free lunches.....

Napa is golden on their premium line and new oem toyota....
but have had several returns on the reman stuff...

    A reman one from autozone...$150...lasted 1 yr.....
although they did swap it for a brandnew one $200 one for free.....that was 4yrs ago....

Napa has sales all the time on on-line orders.....20~25% off....for all kinds of promotions......like AAA month....

About 120,000 miles and it was a remanufactured Denso matching the original.
